Plymouth sports a new lower grille with triangular-shaped parking lights centered above the dual headlights. The rear fins feature vertical alumi num blades or "struts" rising above the taillights. American Motors is betting heavily on its compact, economical Rambler, which offers 11 models on a 108-inch wheelbase. New improvements for '58 include a push-button transmis sion, all-welded single-unit con struction, a step-on parking brake, non-slip differential, and a "body- (Continued) dip" process which rust-proofs the body inside and out. Rambler's sen ior series, new this year, is the Am bassador with a 117-inch wheelbase. American Motors also is bringing out a 100-inch wheelbase model to complete its line. The sporty Studebaker Hawks are joined in '58 by a Packard Hawk which blends European lines with Packard's classic styling. In addition to its Champion, Commander, and President series, Studebaker also of fers a new version of the low-price Scotsman, which was introduced on a limited basis in mid-1957. Out standing styling features of the new Studebakers and Packards are low roof lines and high, canted rear fins.
