T o o New Electronic Kitchen Does Everything But Chew the Food By HERB GLAETTLI United Press Correspondent Chicago OP An electronic kitchen that does just about everything for food except chew it was displayed at the recent Modern Living Exposition here. One appliance manufacturer showed a kitchen which en ables the housewife to sit at a control panel, and by pushing buttotis have potatoes diced, food cooked, floors scrubbed, and more. A control panel in the center of the room doubles as a dining table. In the center of the panel, a closed circuit television screen enables the housewife to check on happenings in other rooms of the house. A tape recorder, equipped ith a timer, prompts her: "Time to start dinner." The housewife can push a button and lamb chops are car ried from their storage space in the kitchen on electronic tracks to an area that prepares and cooks them. The table top of the dining area is cool to the touch, but hidden heat keeps thi food warm at the table. A Wave Of The Hand Beverages are stored in cup board dispensers in the wall, and both hot and cold beverages fill your cup, again at the push of a button or the wave of a hand across an electronic area. Ice cubes are dispensed at will the same way. Another device peels, dices and slices vegetables and fruits. It removes waste and cleans it self automatically after the work is done. Ovens and refrigerators des cend from eye-level positions in the wall like small elevator cars e x p o s i n g temeprature-con-trolled shelves for cooking and freezing. If the housewife wants to do a little of the work herself, she has at her disposal a "mixing area" which provides all the ap paratus for baking a cake. After she has finished, the device whisks the pans away to be cleaned and returned to their places in the kitchen. When the family finishes a meal, a serving cart comes to the table at the flick of a switch. Once loaded with dirty dishes, it scoots back into the wall, washes the dishes and puts them away. A floor cleaner and waxer gives a similar performance. Self-cleaning ovens, an air purifier, and a device which permits change of lighting schemes complete this dream kitchen. Grange Notes Phoenix Grange At the Nov. 12 meeting of Phoenix Grange, Master Dee Hendrickson gave the obligation to Mrs. Mary Luman and E. B. Surruys. Melvin Lattie substituted for Secretary Lesbia Lattie who is visiting relatives on the east coast. Several communications were read, one from the advisory council of the Jackson county juvenile court, thanking Phoe nix Grange for their cooperation and extending an invitation to attend open house and dedica tion of the new Detention Home being held Nov. 14, 15 and 16. A member from the Medford Junior Chamber of Commerce commented on the Christmas pa rade Saturday, Nov. 16, and an invitation to attend KWIN kaf fee klatch in the Pioneer room of the Jackson hotel Nov. 13 at 10 a.m. Charles Johnson was reported ill. HEC Chairman Coral Schroe der announced the next meeting of the HEC would be at the home of Mrs. Harland Glas cock, Phoenix, Wednesday, Nov. 20. Mrs. Olin Poe and Mrs. Thomas Klarin will be cohost-esses. Gertrude Lewin Publicity Chairman Use M-T Classified Ads Damage Suit Seeks $75,000 From Firm Mitchell C. Hull, Central Point, has' filed a complaint in circuit court asking $75,000 damages from Oregon Veneer company for injuries received in a logging accident Nov. 15, 1955. According to the complaint, Hull charges the defendant was reckless, careless and negligent in storing veneer knives on property owned by the company in an area where the plaintiff was employed to spot logs. Hull, according to the com plaint, was required to pull logs on a chain by use of a pole with hook known in the business as a peavy. In his work, it con tinues, he was required to pull logs backwards when the peavy came loose suddenly from a log and the plaintiff was thrown backward into the rack of knives stored without guards. The complaint states that he suffered injury and fracture to vertebra of spine and other in juries. Hull is represented by J. Kelly Farris, Portland attorney.
