Danielson, a prospective member. Members Added To Women's Club At Last Session Mrs. Wheeler O. Hughes, Mrs. Edward H. Kliever and Mrs. Clifford L. Howard became members of Scottish Rite Wom en's club, at a meeting Monday evening in the Masonic temple. Mrs. George D. Osier, presi dent of the club, welcomed the new members and presided at the business session. Plans were made for the Christmas party December 9, at 12 noon, at the Medford hotel. Mrs. Harry F. Nordwick was ap pointed general chairman. It is to be a no host luncheon and there will be an exchange of gifts not to exceed SI in cost. Mrs. Osier appointed Mrs. Ross R. McVay, Grants Pass, to finish the year on the finance committee. Mrs. Fred A. Purdin, was named general chairman for the semi-annual reunion dinner for Scottish Rite Masons and the candidates who will receive the 32nd degree of Scottish Rite December 7 at the Masonic temple. Mrs. Frank Salyers received a special prize. After the busi ness meeting, cards were played. After a stated meeting in the Lodge of Perfection and a stated meeting in the Chapter of Rose Croix, Fred M. Gatter and cast conferred the 24th degree of Scottish Rite upon a class of can didates. The Scottish Rite Ma sons joined the ladies for the coffee hour. Five Valley Extension Units To Study Credit Five valley Home Extension units have scheduled meetings this week. The project to be presented by each of the units will be on "Understanding Con sumer and Credit Buying." The Shady Cove unit will Speakers7 Group Continues Contest; Winners Named Second in the current series of contest talks made up the program for a meeting of Med ford Toastmistress club at Girls Community club Monday even ing. Mrs. Effie Kurtz, president, presided. Following the invocation given by Mrs. Willis Williams, Mrs. Kurtz introduced a guest, Mrs. Lloyd Neilson. Miss Anna Streed introduced and welcomed Mrs. Elmer Ness as a new member of the club. Mrs. Ness recently moved to Medford from El Ca jon, Calif., and is a former mem ber of the El Cajon Valley Toastmistress club. , Mrs. Clayton Ruhl, topicmist ress, asked several members to give two minutes talks on per sonal reasons for thangsgiving at this season. : The educational talk was given by Mrs. James Welch. She gave a brief history of the origin of Toastmistress clubs and their objectives. A report on the re cent council meeting held in Klamath Falls was given by Miss Streed. Mrs. Ethel Me Intyre, toast mistress for the evening, in troduced those participating in the second contest of the current series of contest speeches being held by the club. The first speeker, Mrs. Harry Marshall spoke on, "Runny Mede." She told of the orgin of the "Magna Carta" and it's relation of our present democ racy and world freedom . under law. Mrs. Earl Sands second speak er, took the group verbally on a train through the Rogue valley, her speech being titled. "A Tour of the Rogue River Valley." The subject of Mrs. Roy Roll's speech was, "The Power of a Smile." Each contestant gave a three minute impromptu speech on, "Fashions." The tellers announced that Mrs. Roll's talk had been judged as first place winner of the con test. It was also announced that Miss Streed and Mrs. Clarence Redmond had tied for first place in the 'first speech contest which had been held two weeks ago. Mrs. Arnold Bohnert was lex icologist; Mrs. John Schroeder speech evaluator; Mrs. Clarence Wilson, acted as program evalua tor; and Miss Streed was hostess for the evening. 4 Sorority Chapter Conducts Ritual For New Pledges A pledge ritual was held by Alpha Beta chapter of Beta Sig ma Phi, November 12 at the Medford hotel in the Rogue room, with dinner following. Mrs. O. A. Eden and Mrs. Aus tin Murray assisted the presi dent, Miss Jean Cardona. First and second vice-presidents, Mrs. Fred Johnson and Mrs. John Holms, attended the pledges. The ritual table was covered with the traditional white satin cloth bearing the gold crest. Yellow chrysanthemums and black candles adorned the table, and the mirrored wall in the Rogue room reflected the candle light ceremony. Pledging were Mrs. Floyd Eastwood, Mrs. Earnest Flakus, Mrs. Roland Hall, Mrs. Ted Niel- son and Mrs. Fred Rawson. Fitzgerald will give a report from letters she has re ceived from a unit member in Queensland, Australia. Roll call will be answered by stating what each member is thankful for. All women in the area are in vited to attend the meetinng and children are welcome. The Wiliiow Springs club will be held at the Archie L. Purdy home Tuesday, November 19, at 10:30 a.m. The project will be given by Mrs. Roy Colpitts and Mrs. James Semora. For the potluck dinner mem bers whose last names start with A through K are asked to take rolls, L through P a main dish, R through T salads, and U through Z desserts. Rogue Elks unit will meet Wednesday, November 20, at the home of Mrs. Irvin Ross, on Elk Creek. Mrs. A. W. Worth and Mrs. Henry Rogers will be cohostesses. Mrs. Chester Wilson and Mrs. Royal Greenman will give the project. All attending the meeting are reminded to take Christmas gifts that will be sent to the Navaho mission. Lone Pine unit will be held Thursday, November 21 at 10:30 a.m. at the home of Mrs. E. L. Barnes, Coker Butte road. Leaders for the demonstration will be Mrs. Verne Nelson and Mrs. D. W. Randall. Members are reminded to take a homemade article for the ba zaar. Child care will be furn. ished by Mrs. William Garner, 2995 Buckshot road. Each child is to take a sack lunch and a toy. Jacobs will present the program for Vednesday Study club Wednesday, November 20, in Girl's Community club at 2 p.m. Mrs. Flurry will review "The Easy Life," and Mrs. Jacobs will give a biographical sketch of Billy Graham, evangelist. Reames Social Club Announces Luncheon The monthly meeting of Reames Social club will be a pot luck luncheon at 12 o'clock Wednesday, November 20, at Medford Masonic Hall. The business meeting will be followed by an afternoon of bridge and canasta. Mrs. W. W. Mrs. Lee Hubler Honored at Party Mrs. Lee Hubler was honored at a shower Tuesday afternoon at the home of Mrs. V. A. An derson 523 North Grape street. Mrs. Chris Schemp served as cohostess.
