It was the first wedding held in the nearly 100-year-old church since it was closed in 1940. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth F. Paquin, Grants Pass, and the bridegroom is the younger son of Judge and Mrs. Edward C. Kelly, 906 West Fourth street. The nuptial mass was celebrated by the Rev. John A. Ilg of Sacred Heart parish, which has jurisdiction of the Jacksonville church. The cere mony, as well as the little fron tier church itself, presented many nostalgic aspects that made the wedding unique. Seated with the bridegroom's family were Mr. and Mrs. Frank Applegate of Medford, who had been married in the church 52 years before. Mr. Applegate was baptized in the church and the couple repeated their vows on their golden wedding anni versary there two years ago. Lace Gown The bride wore a ballerina length dress of white Charrtilly lace over satin, made for her as a wedding gift by a family friend, Mrs. Raymond Byrd. The dress, of Nettie Rosenstein de sign, had a sweetheart neckline, empire bodice with sheath line front and side pleats at the fitted waist graduated into graceful skirt fullness at the back. A standup lace collar encircled her shoulders and she wore long lace mitts and satin pumps. She car ried a colonial bouquet of white carnations centered with pink roses, and her short circular veil was held by a pearl and crystal tiara. Miss Sally Ruth Smith of Grants Pass, maid of honor, wore a ballerina length pink taffeta dress with matching shoes and heart shaped pink velvet and lace headpiece. She carried a smaller version of the bride's bouquet. Mr. Paquin escorted his daugh ter to the altar and James C. Murray Jr. was best man. Pat rick Dugan and Arnold Widmer, who, with James Murray have been close friends of the bride groom from the first grade through high school at Medford's St. Mary's, acted as ushers. Leaves Bouquet Philip Paquin and Sam Story, Grants Pass, brother and cousin of the bride, served Mass. The Young Christian Workers choir, to which the couple belong, furn ished the wedding music with Regina Hannon at the organ and Frances Thrun directing. Miss Noreen Kelly, sister of the bride groom, sang in the choir. At the conclusion of the mass the couple went to the Blessed Mother's altar where the bride left her bouquet and they knelt while the choir sang the familiar Catholic hymn, "On This Day Oh Beautiful Mother." The altar decorations of white chrysanthemums and fern with flower and satin sprays at the sanctuary posts were the gift of Mrs. E. B. Hanley and Mrs. Han ley Heffernan, whose suggestion the young couple followed in se lecting the little Jacksonville church for their wedding. The wedding breakfast and reception following the cere mony were held at the Kelly home in Medford. Around 80 at tended. Arrangements of white chrysanihemums and fern, silver candlesticks and white candles were used in the home decora tions. Tiny pompon chrysanthe mums and maidenhair fern en circled the cake on the bride's table and the punch bowls in the reception room, presided over by Paul Haviland and Mrs. Joseph T. Anthony. Pouring coffee were Mrs. Lewis Ulrich and Mrs. John M. McCabe, while Mrs. E. H. Hed rick and Mrs. Moore Hamilton assisted Mrs. Kelly and Mrs. Paquin as reception hostesses. Mrs. John Compagnoni cut the wedding cake and serving it were Mrs. Paul Haviland, Mrs. John P. Cooney and Mrs. James C. tMurray. Mrs. Francis Heuer took charge of the guest book. For the wedding and reception the bride's mother wore a sheath dress of Dior blue wool crepe' with Ascot grey accessories, long white gloves and a corsage of white spider chrysanthemums. Her contour hat was of iri descent pearl beading. The bride groom's mother wore a sapphire blue wool crepe sheath . dress, matching sequin hat, cream colored gloves and cream shat tered chrysanthemum corsage. Mr. Kelly and his bride spent a week's honeymoon on the Ore gon coast. For traveling the bride wore a Windsor blue dressmaker wool suit and matching velour hat and a corsage of pink roses. They will be at home after No vember 1, at 748 West Fourth street, Medford. The bride is a graduate of I Grants Pass High school where she won considerable recogni tion as an art student. She won a scholarship and is a graduate of Medford Beauty college, being presently associated with the Vogue Beauty shop. The bride groom is a graduate of the Uni versity of Santa Clara and is employed in the IBM Depart ment at Bear Creek Orchards. Among those attending the wedding were the bridegroom's grandmother, Mrs. Agnes C. Kelly of Medford and his uncles, Guy Kelly, Longview, Wash., and Robert E. Kelly, Myrtle Creek, Ore. Others from out of town included Mr. and Mrs. Paul Story, Mrs. Cabot Smith. Mrs. Cecil Boyer. Mrs. Orrie Boyer, Mrs. Donald Baker, Mrs. John Mahaley and Mrs. Oscar Brolin, Grants Pass; Judge and Mrs. L. Peers Wilmeth and Mrs. Homer Johnson, Ashland and Mr. and Mrs. Larry Sheehan, Rogue River. Mr. and Mrs. Moore Hamilton and Mr. and Mrs. E. H. Hedrick were hosts for the rehearsal din ner on Friday evening preceding the wedding, at the Hamilton home, 43 Rose avenue, Medford. The wedding party and out of town guests as well as parents of the bride and bridegroom at tended. Mr. and Mrs. Bernard P. Kelly married here October 5, arrived home from their wed ding trip just in time to join the rehearsal party toward the conclusion of the evening. Open House Held On Anniversary Jacksonville Mr. and Mrs. Henry Pawlowski of Jackson ville were honored Sunday, Oc tober 20, at an open house ob servance of their 35th wedding anniversary at the home of their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford McGinty. Guests included their son, Jer ry Pawlowski, Jacksonville; Tom Stigum, Don Batchelder, and Mr. and Mrs. Scotty Stigum, all of Portland; and other friends and relatives from this area. Another daughter, Mrs. William Hyde, and her family, Scotts Valley, were unable to attend. The couple was married Octo ber 21, 1922, in Milwaukee, Wise. At the house they were presented carnations and a large wedding cake was serve. Medford Woman , Leaves for South 1 Ms. Minnie Bryant, long time Medford resident, is now making her home in Escondido, Calif., with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Runtz, also former Medford resi dents. Mrs. Bryant is widely known here for her work with First Baptist church, Medford Women's Christian Temperance union, the American Legion auxiliary, Olive Rebekah lodge and other groups. Before going south Mrs. Bry ant accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Santo and Mrs. Ina Ren ker to Eugene for the state con vention of the WCTU. While in Eugene Mrs. Bryant also visited Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Buchanan and was a guest of Mr. and Mrs. Pinkstaff. ' Mrs. Bryant's home on Cot tage street is now occupied by Mr. and Mrs. James Irby who recently came to Medford from Boise, Ida. ' Mrs. Runtz spent a week In Medford before her mother's departure for California. i New York Couple Valley Visitors Dr. and Mrs. Richard B. Stark of New York City ar rived in Medford last week. They visited at the home of Mrs. Stark's parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Collins, 164 Black Oak drive, and with her brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ed ward H. Collins, and another brother, Robertson E. Collins. . Dr. Stark returned East later in the week and Mrs. Stark plans to return next week. The visitors have been hon ored at a number of parties at tended by friends and relatives. Tycers Announce Trothal of Couple ' Cave Junction Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Tycer of the Holland Loop road, announce the en gagement of their daughter, Kathy, to Mike Piller, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. R. Piller of Kerby. Miss Tycer is a member of the sophomore class at Illinois Valley high school, while Mr. Piller, who graduated from the local high school in 1957, is now a freshman at the Univers ity of Oregon. No date has been set for the wedding, as both young people plan to finish their school work. Winners Return From Trip East Mr. and Mrs. G. C. Wimer, 3695 Jacksonville highway, Med ford, returned Thursday from a months vacation trip to Eastern and Southern United States. Leaving Medford September 24, the Wimers visited Mrs. Wimer's brother in Ogden, Utah, for two days before traveling by train to New York City by the way of Denver and Chicago. In New York City they attended the first game in the World Series. The couple visited Mr. Wim er's brother, Kenneth Wimer, in Washington, D. C, prior to leav ing for Panama City, Fla., where they spent a week visiting a son, and his family, Capt. and Mrs. A. L. Wimer. Captain Wimer is stationed with the United States Air Force there. Mrs. Wimer is the former Miss Janet House of Medford. From Florida the Wimers traveled to Fresno, Calif., by way of New Orleans and El Paso. In Fresno they visited another son and his family, Mr. and Mrs. D. C. Wimer. Mrs. Wimer is the former Miss Peggy Garlock of Medford.
