THE CITY OF MEDFORD DOTH ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. WHEREAS the City Council did heretofore by Ordinance declare its intention to construct curbs and gutters, driveways and pav ing on Rose Avenue from Pennsyl vania Avenue to West Fourth Street in the Citv of Medford. Oregon; and to assess the cost thereof upon Hch 17. mprovement its benefited bv such proportionate share of the cost of said improvement, ana aia iix wic iiiiit onu place for hearing protests against the construction of said improvement and the assessment of the cost thereof, as aforesaid; and WHEREAS said Ordinance was duly posted and published as required by the Charter of the City; and WHEREAS a meeting of the Coun cil was held at the time and place fixed in said Ordinance for the pur pose of considering any such protests, but no protests were at such time, or at anv time, made to. or received bv the Council to the construction of said improvement, or the assessing of the cost thereof, as aforesaid, and said Council has considered the matter and deeming that said construction of said improvement was and is of ma terial benefit to said City, and that all the property to be assessed there for will be benefited thereby to the extent of the probable amount of the respective assessments to be levied against said property, did order the construction of said improvement: and WHEREAS, the cost of said improve ment has b"en and hereby is determ ined to be the sum of S3. 805. 19. ORDINANCE NO. 6813 AN ORDINANCE declaring the as sessment on property benefited by the use of a water main on Crater Lake Avenue from Saling Avenue to Spring Street as a lateral water main, and directing the Recorder to enter a statement thereof in the Docket of City Liens and publish a notice there of as required by the Charter. THE CITY OF MEDFORD DOTH ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Whereas the City of Medford did heretofore cause to be constructed and laid a water main within the City of Medford on Crater Lake Avenue from Saling Avenue to Spring Street and the cost of said water main has not been paid and the Council is of the opinion that said water main mav be used, by tne pro perty fronting on said street wherein said water main has been laid as a lateral water main without materially interfering with the use thereof for the purpose for which it was origin ally laid, and: WHEREAS the Council did. after said water main was laid, declare, by resolution, its intention to assess the property fronting on said street with in which said water main was laid and which it proposed to permit the owners of adjacent property to use for lateral water main purposes and did. in said resolution, designate the amount per front foot which it pro posed to assess against said adjacent property, and: WHEREAS said resolution was duly posted and published as required by I the Charter, and whereas a meeting of the Council was held at the time and Dlace fixed in said resolution for the purpose of considering any pro tests against such assessment, but no protests were made at such time or at any time thereto and the Council having considered the matter and deeming that the use of said water main for lateral purposes, as afore said, is of material benefit to the said City and that all of the property to be assessed therefor will be bene fited thereby to the amount of the assessment herein levied against the same and: WHEREAS the Council has deter mined that the sum of S2.35 per front foot is a proper and reasonable am ount to be assessed against the proper ty fronting upon the street within which said water main was laid, now therefore, each parcel of property hereinafter set forth and described is hereby found to be benefited by the use of said water main as a later al water main and each thereof is hereby assessed the amount set oppo site each respective description for the use of said water main for later al purposes, as aforesaid. Fund rais ing proposals will be submitted for Grange approval by the Home Economics club and rou tine business will be transacted. The display table will feature old time and modern wedding gifts. Pomona Grange Next meeting of Jackson County Pomona Grange will be held in Phoenix Grange hall Sat urday, Oct. 26. This will be an all-day meeting, starting at 10 a.m. The meat dish will be fur nished by the host Grange; all ladies attending are to bring salads or desserts. Judging for the White Satin Sugar contest will be held in the morning; and all entries should be brought for all divis ions. All Grangers in the valley are urged to attend this meeting, as State Deputy Henry Hendrick- son will be one of the speakers; and matters of importance to every member will be discussed. UPPER ROGUE GRANGE Upper Rogue Grange held a business meeting Thursday eve ning, Oct. 17, with master Car oline Harding in the chair. Robert Bitterling, master of Jackson county Pamona Grange was escorted to the master's sta tion. Sister Cora Bitterling was also present. It was reported that Ray Gill of the Executive committee of the State Grange was ill in a Portland hospital and that the chaplain had sent him a card. HEC chairman, sister Axtell, stated that the next HEC meet ing will be held Thursday, Nov. 14, with a luncheon at the home of Mable Hanson on Elk creek road. Refreshments were served by Mr. and Mrs. Herb Carlton, af ter which slides were shown by Mr. and Mrs. Bob Chamberlain.
