CENTRAL Sunday, October 20, 1957 IWglf Vinrt tiMTim lTiiiii'irM it Program By League Mrs. Justin Smith. 21 Geneva street, will be hostess to the evening study unit of the League of Women Voters Monday, Oct ober 28, at 8 p.m. Discussion will center on con servation of water resources, a topic under study by leagues throughout the United States. The monthly unit meetings are open to all women interest ed, according to Mrs. Ogden Kel logg, Gold Hill, who is in charge of the program. Couple to Spend Winter in South Mr. and Mrs. James Pree planned to leave this morning for Albuquerque, N.M., where they will spend several weeks. Later the couple plan to spend some time in Phoenix, Ariz., and after the Christmas holidays they will continue to Mexico for the remainder of the winter. They were accompanied by their daughter. Miss Barbara Pree, who has been in Medford while on leave from the Wom en's Air Force. Miss Pree has been stationed at Lackland Air Force base in San Antonio, Tex., and her second assignment is for radar training at Kirtland Air Force base, Albuquerque. The Prces plan to return to Medford in early spring. Program Planned For Presbyterians Mrs. William Bray, wife of Dr. Bray, professor of theology in Kwansie Gakum university in Japan, will speak on Japan at the Women's Association of First Presbyterian church meet ing Tuesday. October 22, at 12:30 p.m. Mrs. Bray will illust rate her talk with slides of the country and people. Election of officers for the coming year will be held. ft Ox a - y-. V' . ' f ? (-uV - I ' Wedding Of Interest In Medford Of interest here is news of the wedding of Robert C. McCarty, son of Mr. and Mrs. R. D. Mc Carty, formerly oi Medford and now of Santa Rosa. Calif. His bride is the former Junis Jean Wells, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. J. Weils. Santa Rosa, and the wedding took place October 13 at Presbyterian Church of the Roses. The Rev. William M. Bowen officiated. The newlyweds spent a hon eymoon in Carniel and are liv ing in Santa Rosa. Given in marriage by her fa ther, the bride wore a ballerina gown of tulle over satin with satin cummerbund and bustle. A headpiece of lace and pearls, with orange blossoms that had belonged to her great grand mother, held her silk illusion veil and she carried carnations and stephanotis with a white orchid. Mrs. Carl Holz was matron-of-honor for her sister and Mrs. Meade Xordyke Jr., was brides matron. They wore ballerina frocks of white nylon sheer with aquamarine embroidery and carried aquamarine carna tions. John Gallien. Modesto, was best man and Oscar Dovell and Carl Holz were ushers. The reception was held in the church social hall. Assisting were Miss Rosalie Rocca. Sono ma: Mrs. Donald Pioleiti. Cas tro Valley, Miss Donna Norton, Hayward and Miss Patricia Sheppard. Mrs. Wells wore a royal blue wool jersey sheath with satin cummerbund, matching hat and gray accessories. Mrs. McCarty wore a royal purple bolero gown with pink accessories. Their flowers were orchids. The bride attended Santa Rosa High school and Junior college, and is a member of a Sonoma county pioneer family. The bridegroom attended Med ford High school before the family moved to California and was graduated from Santa Rosa High school. He served four years in the United States Coast gv.ard and plans to enroll at Humboldt State college, Areata, Calif., in February. Missionary Circles Announce Meetings White Cross Missionary circles i of the Women's Fellowship of i First Baptist church will hold i meetings Tuesday, October 22. ! All sessions will start at 10:30 j a.m. and the hostesses will fur ! nish coffee. Those attending should take a sack lunch, and scissors for work. Martha circle will meet with Mrs. Crocker Hunter Sr.. 50 Valleyview drive. Mrs. Donn Piatt is chairman. Ashland, has been elected president of the Oregon Shakespearean Festival association. Born in Portland, he attend ed Portland schools. Willamette university and Oregon State col lege. He was manager of Albany radio station KWIL between 1943 and 1946. when he became manager of ishland radio sta tion KWIN. In 1948, he joined the firm Wiley and Reinholdt, Insurance agency, in Ashland. He is a member of the Elks club and the Masons. A. Meyer, principal of Central Point Elementary and Junior High schools, announce that on Tuesday, October 22, the schools and the Parent-Teacher association will sponsor a "Back to School" night. Jewett Elementary and the Central Point Elementary schools will be open from 7 to 7:50 p.m. At 8 p.m. all parents of the Junior High school stu dents will go through their schedule. Class periods will be 10 minutes, the entire schedule taking 80 minutes. This evening is designed for better understanding and co operation between the home and the school, and school officials believe that much more can be accomplished if the teacher and the parents can meet without the children being present, it is stated. Main purpose of this "Back to School'' night is to give the parents a chance to see and hear the teacher display books and materials used, and review the subject material covered in that grade, those in charge state. The PTA will sell refresh ments in Jewett and Central Point Elementary school cafe terias during the evening. Membership cards for all PTA members may be picked up that evening at Ihe schools. Thus far there are 650 paid memberships for the 1957-1958 year.
