"BPWC Session Ending Todays Director Talks The annual fall conference of Southern Oregon district, Ore gon Federation of Business and Professional Women's club be ing held here this week end will conclude at noon today. The conference started Saturday aft ernoon with a tour to Jackson ville museum. Present for the meeting was Mrs. Margaret Gordon. Wes coma. Ore., state president of the Federation. Mrs. Harriet Watson, past president of the Medford club and district chair man, arranged the program. At the Thursday meeting of the Medford club Major General Joseph H. Hicks, Jackson coun ty civil defense director, spoke on atom bomb fallout and showed films on National Secu rity. Miss Laura York spoke o the third annual Oregon state wom en's conference on Civil Defense that she attended recently. She explained the part that women can do to help with civil de fense. John Lusk, Lusk's Piano ' house, played several piano se lections during the evening. Committees in charge were national security, Mrs. Thelma Mclntyre, chairman: and public relations, Mrs. Kay Kohler, chairman. 4 Preferential Tea Set For Today Beta Upsilon chapter, Beta Sigma Phi, will hold the annual preferential tea today at the home of Mrs. Scott Davis, 1914 East Main street, at 2 p.m. The tea was announced during a meeting of the chapter held October 15 at the home of Mrs. Howard Blew. Mrs. Carl Chris tensen, president, presided. Guests attending were Mrs. Joe Sayre and Mrs. Max Larson Tlie evening was highlighted by a report from Mrs. Arthur Brooks on the Beta Sigma Phi regional convention held in Ed monton, Canada, in June. The delegate displayed a scrapbook and had many new ideas for the chapter, as well as reports on convention activities.
