MAIL TRIBUNE Sunday, September 1, 1957 f ip Mr. and Mrs. David Eugene Eaton (Brainerd Photo) Nazarene Church Scene Of JVeddlng Miss Suzanne Elaine Cox be came the bride of David Eugene Eaton in a ceremony held Fri day, August 23, in the First Church of the Nazarene. The Rev. Sherman Moore of the Pilgrim Holiness church offici ated at the candlelight eight o'clock evening ceremony as sisted by the Rev. C. Edwin Cox, father of the bride. Pink and white gladiolus dec orated the church for the serv ice and Miss Evangeline Deal, Salens played the traditional organ wedding music. Mrs. Wal ter Lindell and Lee Mansveld were soloists. An anniversary candle wss at the altar which the bride and bridegroom light ed at the close of the service. The bride is a daughter of the Rev. and Mrs. Cox, 1541 Biddle road, Medford. The bridegroom is a son of Mrs. Ruth Groleau, 310 North Barneburg road, and Alfred D. Eaton, West Covina, Calif. Given In marriage by her fa ther, the bride wore a white gatin and lace gown. Her finger tip length veil was trimmed with lace and fell from a seed pearl tiara. She carried white orchids encircled with stephanoti3 on a white Bible. Mrs. Clifford Shafer, Central Point, was honor attendant for her sister. Bridesmaids and bridesmatrons were Mrs. Harry Snell, Merced, Calif.; Mrs. Clif ford Hacker, El Monte, Calif.; and Miss Pat Medley, Hayward, Calif. They wore floor length frocks of embossed taffeta in pink and blue with matching headbands and carried pink or white carnations. Little Deborah Kaye Shafer, niece of the bride, was flower girl. Candlelighters were Miss Joyce Bretz, Salem, and Miss Jessie Willafd, Central Point. They all wore frocks of blue em bossed taffeta. Steven Groleau served as Bible boy. Clifford Shafer served as best man while Walter Thomas, El Monte; Frank Yoakum, Ingle wood, Calif.; and Leon Stans field, seated the guests. The ceremony was attended by 250 relatives and friends. For her daughters wedding Mrs. Cox chose a pink lace dress with navy blue accessories. Mrs. Groleau wore a light blue lace dress with white accessories. They both wore corsages of pink and white carnations. Following the ceremony a re ception was held in the church annex which was attended by 150 guests. Ed Hayes decorated the church and annex for the ceremony and reception, and Colorado Couple To Leaye Today Mr. and Mrs. Charles Works of Denver, Colo., are leaving to day after having been guests here of Mr. Works' brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Ruhl, 2404 East Main street. .Mr. and Mrs. Works attended performances of the Oregon Shakespearean festival while here. Their son-in-law and daugh ter, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Turner, are members of the festival com pany this year. Mr. Turner will be director of theater and assist ant professor of speech and drama at Humboldt State col lege, Areata. Calif, this fall. Here Miss Jane Garrett of Eugene and Miss Romaine Lovelace of Roseburg are weekend guests here of Miss Nancy Hamilton, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Moore Hamilton on Rose avenue. The three girls, who are members of Gamma Phi Beta on the Univer sity of Oregon campus, will re turn to school September 13. Mrs. Dayton Varner was In charge of the reception. Miss Rebecca Storey, Salem, played the reception music. Mrs. Robert Lull and Mrs. Da vid Moore cut and served the wedding cake baked by Mrs Miss Isobel Carr Honored at Parties Two recent parties have hon ored Miss Isobel Carr whose wedding to Philip G. Johnson Jr., of Oswego, Ore., is set for September 21. Mrs. Hugh Coleman and her daughter, Mrs. Arthur Monroe, gave a brunch recently at Rogue Valley Country club. The party was a mother-daughter event, with 16 attending. Mrs. Homer Marx and Mrs. C. Elwood Hedberg were host esses for a luncheon at the for mer's home on Kings highway. Decorations were in shades of pink and white. Twenty guests attended and presented Miss Carr a shower of gifts for her new home. The bride-elect is a daughter of the Fred Carrs, Florence ave nue. , Donna Rohlfing Becomes Bride of Sergeant Wood Talent Of interest here is news of the wedding of Miss Donna Mae Rohlfing, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Don O. Rohlf ing, "Portland, to Staff Sgt. Brad ley Gordon Wood, Talent. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Wood, Route 1, Box 206, Talent. The ceremony was held Sun day, August 25, in Rose City Park Methodist church, Port land, with Dr. Roy A. Fedje of ficiating. Mr. Rohlfing gave his daughter in marriage. The bride wore a gown of tulle and lace over taffeta and her elbow length illusion veil was held by a tiara of seed pearls. Her bouquet was of glamelias and pink rose buds on a white Bible. Miss Dorothy Rohlfing was her sister's only at tendant. She wore a frock of peacock blue silk and carried pink carnations and white snap dragons in a spray. George Franklin was best man for Sergeant Wood, Forrest Waddel seated the guests. The reception which followed in the church parlor was attended by 50 guests. Sergeant Wood is assigned to duty at the Portland Air Force base and the newlyweds will live in that city. . Former Residents Here for Week End Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wel- wood. former Medford residents now living in St. Helens, Ore., are Labor day week end guests of Mr. and Mrs. Homer Marx, Kings highway. The Welwoods will attend the Southern Oregon golf championship tourney be ing played this week end at Rogue Valley Country club. Lull, while Mrs. Edwin Hayes and Mrs. Norman McMahan poured the punch. Mrs. James Smith and Mrs. Roland Johnson were in charge of the guest book and Mrs Floyd Pawlowski and Miss Charlene Bohl were at the gift tables. The newlyweds will make their home at 2521 Granada in El Monte, following a wed ding trip to San Francisco and Los Angeles. For her traveling attire the bride chose a light brown suit with beige and brown accessories. The bride attended Medford High school and Western Pil grim college and is employed by Valley X-Ray Clinic in El Monte. The bridegroom attend ed Medford High school and Western Pilgrim college and is employed by Ranch Market in West Covina, Calif. Out-of-town guests attending the wedding included Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Tighe, Merced; Mr. and Mrs. Edward Daniels, and Mrs. Doris Tucker and sons, all of Fresno, Calif.; and the Rev. and Mrs. W. S. Deal, Salem. Bride-Elect Guest At Shower Party Among coming weddings is that of Miss Carol Ann Lewis and J. Bradley Morris, set for Saturday, September 7, at First Presbyterian church here. The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Wayne V. Stine, Old Military road, and Mr. Morris' parents are Mr. and Mrs. Carlos W. Morris, 18 Mistletoe street. Miss Lewis was guest of hon or recently at a party given by Mrs. L. Paul Walker, her daugh ter, Miss Molly Walker, and Miss Honor Stansbury. The shower was given at the Walker home, 2132 Dellwood avenue. Miss Walker and Miss Stans bury are to be Miss Lewis' at tendants. 4 Medford Woman Home From Tour Mrs. Ben Schmidt, South New town avenue, returned to Med ford Wednesday after spending iour months in Europe. Mrs. Schmidt sailed for Eng land last April aboard the Queen Elizabeth where she visited for a month with her son. Naw Lieutenant Rodney Schmidt, who is stationed in London. In London- she was ioined bv her sister, Mrs. E. A. Langley of La Habra, Calif., and the two toured Scotland, Holland, and Belgium before meeting Mrs. Langiey's son, E. H. Langley, in Paris. Following a ten day visit in that city the trio motored through southern France and into Spam where they attended the fiesta of the "runnine of the bulls-." After leaving Spain they traveled to Switzerland where Mrs. Schmidt flew to London. Mrs. Langley joined her sister there for the return trip to New York City. Prior to her return to Med ford Mrs. Schmidt visited rela tives in Michigan, Ohio, and Illinois. Dinner, Shower Given in Honor Of Sylvia McCabe Miss Sylvia McCabe was guest of honor at a dinner and shower given recently by Mrs. Anthony Boitano at her home on East Main street. Miss Mc Cabe is the financee of Bern ard Kelly, and the marriage is planned for October 5 at Sacred Heart Catholic church here. An arrangement of pink and white gladiolus, roses and chry santhemums centered the table from which the Italian dinner was served in buffet fashion. Guests were Miss McCabe and her mother, Mrs. John McCabe, Mrs. Edward C. Kelly, mother of the bridegroom-to-be Miss Nor ene Kelly, Mrs A. O. Tollefson, Myrtle Creek, Ore., Mrs. Arthur Monroe, Mrs. Richard Padgham, Mrs. W. V. Deatherage, Miss Isobel Carr, Miss Chloe Fair weather, Mrs. Paul McDuffee, Mrs. James Shinn, Miss Kaye Durno, Mrs. John Cooney and Mrs. Charles Bottjer. Mrs. Bottjer assisted her sis ter, the hostess, during the din ner. T-4 Luncheon Honors Cynthia Jackson Mrs. John C. Boyle was host ess for a luncheon last Tuesday which honored Miss Cynthia Jackson. This was the first of a number of parties planned to compliment Miss Jackson and her fiance, Patrick Ford, before their wedding in mid-September. The bride-elect is the only daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn L. Jackson, 117 Greenway circle. Mrs. Boyle invited 14 of Miss Jackson's close friends to the Boyle home on Ross lane for the luncheon. Her mother and grand mother, Mrs. Robert Simpson, were also among the guests. Table decorations were of pink roses, blue forget-me-nots and pink dahlias. The hostess presented the honored guest a gift. 4 Evelyn Stafford Honored at Party The social calendar is filled with parties for brides and their finances, since a large number of weddings are set for early and mid-September. ' Miss Evelyn Stafford, bride elect of William John Crocker, was honored at a brunch Fri day morning given by Mrs. Dorothy Dowson at her home, 47 South Berkeley way. Miss Stafford, daughter of Col. and Mrs. Charles E. Stafford, 1914 Westerlund drive, was present ed with a shower of canned fruit with the labels removed from the cans. Additional parties are planned for Miss Stafford this week. The Crocker-Stafford rites are planned for September 13 at St. Mark's Episcopal church. Jacqueline Loros To Become Bride Mr. and Mrs. Milton A. Loros, 1862 Delta Waters road, Med ford, announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Jacqueline, to James M. Andrews, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph M. Andrews, 5625 Georgia Drive, North Highlands, Calif. Miss Loros is a graduate of Medford High school and was previously employed at Swem's Gift shop here. She is now em ployed at California Western States Life Insurnace company in Sacramento. Mr. Andrews attended Rose ville Joint Union High school and served with the United States Air Force. He is now em ployed by Pacific Telephone and Telegraph company in North Sacramento, Calif. The wedding date Is set for September 28, at St. Marks Episcopal Church In Medford. Sheyla Thompson, Robert C. Lake Engaged to Wed Mr. and Mrs. O. V. Thompson, 4850 South Pacific highway, an nounce the engagement of their daughter, Sheyla Rae, to Robert C. Lake, son of Mr. and Mrs. R. T. Lake, Willow Ranch, Calif. Miss Thompson is a graduate of Phoenix High school and at tended Southern Oregon college. Mr. Lake is a graduate of Modoc High school "and served four years with the United States Navy. He is employed by Cas cade Products, Inc. A ' December wedding is planned. Ensign and Mrs. William Middleton McAllister (Halmerud photo) Newlyweds Arrive Here After California Rites Ensign and Mrs. William Middleton McAlister are visit ing in Medford this weekend following their wedding in San Diego, Calif., Friday, August 23. Ensign McAllister participated in the Southern Oregon Golf Tournament. The bride is the former Miss Artha Linda ' Barbour, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Richard Barb our, of LaMesa, Calif. The bride groom is a son of Justice and Mrs. William Menzies McAllis ter of Salem, formerly of Med ford. First Presbyterian church in San Diego was the setting for the 7:30 o'clock evening cere mony with the Rev. Orno E. Tyler, grandfather of the bride, officiating. Peach and yellow gladiolus and carnations and ferns decorated the church for the wedding. Mrs. Kenneth Grant was soloist and Miss Ethel Widener Kennedy played the traditional organ wedding music. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a gown of lace over satin fashioned with fitted bodice and bouffant skirt. Her . fingertip length veil was held by a circlet of Venetian handmade lace, and she carried a cascade bouquet of orchids ard stephanotis. Miss Ellen Barbour was honor attendant for her sister. She wore a dress of yellow chiffon over peach satin and carried a colonial bouquet of yellow carnations ana yellow roses. Miss Mary Barbour, sister of the bride, and Miss Carol Dono hue, Miss Susan Sellman and Miss Carole Fuller were the bridesmaids. All wore yellow satin frocks and carried colon ial bouquets of peach carnations and yellow roses. Jack Landaw, Harvard class mate of the bridgeroom from New Rochelle, N.Y., was best man. The ushers were Lt. Mel Peterson, Lt. (jg) Martin Cor coran. Lt. (jg) Marc Twinney, and Ens. Brad Stark. For her daughters wedding, Mrs. Barbour wore a light blue chiffon dress with corsage of white orchids. Mrs. McAllister chose a taupe chiffon dress and corsage of white orchids. The reception following was in the church patio. Miss Aldine Harvey cut the cake. Pouring were Mrs. Robinson Briggs, Mrs. Raymond Shrekraft and Mrs. Edward F. Anthony; and assisting were Mrs. Harry Os born, Mrs. Harla High, Mrs Wendell Kirk, three cousins of the bride. Misses Margaret and Patricia Shaw and Miss Kather ine Ryder; and Miss Elsie Chan, Miss Valerie Shukraft. Miss Marian Bossart. Miss Julie An tbony, Miss Roberta Fink, Miss Elaine Smith, Miss Janet Wil liams and Miss Joyce Smith. For traveling the bride wore a beige wool crepe suit with white accessories and corsage of white orchids. Following a trip along the coast to San Fran cisco, and to Medford' and Salem, the couple will be at home in San Diego. The bride attended San Diego State college where she is a members of Pi Beta Phi soror ity. Ensign McAllister is a graduate of Medford High school and of Harvard univers ity where he was a member of Pi Eta Pi. He is now serving with the United States Navy aboard the USS Kidd. Dessert and bridge follow ed.' The group included both active alumnae members of the sorority. and Miss Donna Busch, Cali fornia; George McAllister, brother of the justice from Gresham, Ore., Mr. and Mrs. Joe McAllister, Los Angeles, cousins; and Mr. and Mrs. Horace Selby, San Diego, in whose home the McAllisters were guests while in the south for the wedding. Pianist Announces Plans for Chorus Bruno Pellegrini, 327 South Oakdale avenue, is organizing a chorus to include all interest ed persons in the valley. Mr. Pellegrini is assistant conductor and accompanist for the South ern Oregon Philharmonic orchestra. The proposed chorus of mix ed voices will give concerts and programs in the area under Mr. Pellegrini's direction.
