MEKITRICK Funeral services for James A McKitrick, 84, who was killed Thursday, will be held at Cong er-Morris Monday at 2:30 p.m. Committal will be in Siskiyou Memorial Park. Mr. McKitrick was born Aug. 13, 1873 In Fairfield, 111., and had lived in Medford the last 10 years. Survivors Include a dauphter, Mrs. Eunice Williams, Boon ville, Calif., two sons Frank Mc Kitrick, Grover City, Calif., and Wesley McKitrick, Washington; a brother Henry T. McKitrick, Seattle, Wash., and 25 grand chdren. ELMER C. EICHORST Funeral services for Elmer C. EichOrst, 79, who died Thurs- holding for authorities Fred Paul Russell who they said escaped from the Larch Mountain honor farm at Vancouver, Wash. Rus sell admitted to police he was an escapee during a routine check, they said. Son Born A son, David Maurice, was born Aug. 17 to Mr. and Mrs. Earl R. Sample, Pasadena, Calif. Sample is em ployed by Southern California Edison company , and is the son of Mrs. Muriel Sample, 306 North Peach St., Medford. He graduated from Medford High school in 1930 and from the Un iversity of Southern California, Los Angeles, in 1949. The Sam ples have two other children. Family Mr. and Mrs. Wal lace Borden and their five chil dren, formerly of Medford and now living in Prineville, Ore, ap peared on the CBS television network Aug. 17 on the "Two for the Money" program. Naval Academy, Annapolis, Aid., is home on 32 days leave, visit ing his mother, Mrs. O. W. De- Jarnett, 618 West Jackson Street, Medford. Earlier this summer Midship man Cosky spent three weeks at the Navy amphibious base. Little Creek, Va., studying at Pensacola, Fla., observing avia tion tactics ana riding in vari ous types of Naval aircnit, in cluding helicopters. Last summer vacation he made a cruise abooard the battleship New Jersey to England and the Scandinavian countries. AT EMBASSY Jack L. Paxton, officer in the United States Army, has been assigned to duty with the Ameri can embassy at Tegucigalpa, Honduras, according to informa tion received from the Army. Paxton, who has been on duty day, will be held in Conger-Morns chapel Monday at 11:30 p.m., with the Rev. George Roseberry of First Methodist church offici ating. Committal will be in Sis kiyou Memorial Park. Mrs. Eichorst was born June 13, 1878, in Homestead Co., Minn. His wife Johanna pre ceeded him in death in 1949. He had lived in Medford since 1937. Survivors include a son. Har vey, Eichorst, Tacoma, Wash.: a daughter Mrs. Gladys DeMots, Brookings. South Dakota; three grand children and 5 great grandchildren. Pallbearers will include Charles Michelsen, Sials Brown, Arthur McDonnell, Andrew Severson, Dan Mix, and Ralph Peterson. CHAS. W. SCALBERG Funeral services for Charles W. Facey of Butte Falls, Ore., graduated from re cruit training Aug. 10, at, the Naval Training Center, San Diego, Calif. - The graduation exercises, marking the end of nine weeks of "boot camp," included a full dress parade and review before military officials . and civilian dignitaries. In nine weeks of instruction, the "raw recruit" is developed into a Navy Bluejacket, ready for duty with the fleet. IN ARCTIC CIRCLE . Arctic (FHTNC) Paul A. Col lier, fireman, USN, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry I. Collier of Sixes, Ore., is serving with the staff of Rear Admiral Frederick C. Stelter Jr., USN, Command er oi Amphibious Group One on board the amphibious com mand ship USS Eldorado, above the Arctic Circle on the annual re-supply of the stations of the Distant Early Warning (DEW line) radar network. Some 96 ships are taking part in the operation, 50 in the At lantic and 46 in the Pacific. This year's trip is considered to be doubly dangerous since the ships facing the heaviest concentra tion of ice in history. They will carry 500,000 tons of supplies to the men along North America's "back fence." Stretching from Western Alas ka across the upper rim of the North American continent, through Canada to Baffin Island, me o,uuu mile long uilw line j will provide the United States j and Canada with advance warn- j ing of the approach of airborne i objects over the polar regions, I allowing the greatest possible time margin. COMPLETES CRUISE . - Seattle, Wash. Lt. Cdr. Marshall E. Woodell, 650 Leon ard st., Ashland, recently com pleted a two-weeks training cruise aboard the icebreaker USS Burton Island based at Seattle. Dr. Woodell, a Lieutenant Commander in the Naval Re serve and professor of social science at Southern Oregon ol lege, is a members of the Naval Reserve Composite Unit 13-11 of Medford. ABOARD FLAGSHIP Point Barrow, Alaska Leo S. Callaway, USN, 1140 Marrow Rd., Medford is serving aboard the amphibious command flag ship, USS Eldorado. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert S. Callaway of Med ford. The Eldorado with 45 other Ships is completing resupplying the 1750 mile long western sec tor of the trans-Arctic Distant Early Warning, radar network.
