New Jersey to England and the
Scandinavian countries.

of "boot camp," included a full
dress parade and review before

In nine weeks of instruction,
the "raw recruit" is developed
into a Navy Bluejacket, ready

year's trip is considered to be
doubly dangerous since the ships
facing the heaviest concentra
tion of ice in history.
They will carry 500,000 tons
of supplies to the men along
North America's "back fence."
