Crabb, superintendent of schools in Jacksonville, announced this week this Jacksonville school district I has completed Its per sonnel assignments for the school year 1957-58. Elementary teachers are grade 1, Mrs. Leona Gilinsky, Med ford; grade 2, Mrs. Rebecca Long and Mrs. Evelyn Winningham, both of Jacksonville; grade 3,. Mrs Maude Hardy, Jacksonville; grade 4, Mrs. Enid L. Maurer of Ashland, and Mrs. Ida McArthur of Medford; grade 5, Lynn Bernt son, of Jacksonville; grade 6, Fred Buehling. Jacksonville; grade 7, Mrs. Vida McCarley, Ashland; grade 8, Dealous Cox, Medford. Three new elementary teach ers are for grade 1, Mrs. Lily C. Robison of Ashland; grade 3, Mrs. Barbara Jane Robinson, Jacksonville, and grade 5, Mrs. Mary Sullenger, of Medford. Secondary teachers are Mrs. Mrs. Helen Broadbeck, Medford, commercial subjects; Mrs. Clara Wendt, Jacksonville, English, li brary; Mrs. Florence J. Hanson, Ashland, homemaking; Leland Harter, Jacksonville, Industrial arts; Carl A. Totman, Jackson ville, science and mathematics; Kennf'Ji Toner, Central Point, social rtudies; and Glenn Shire man, boys physical education, so cial studies, drivers training. New secondary teachers are Miss Marion Anderson, Medford, are and English; Miss Marjorie Simonsen, girls physical educa tion; William Seymour, . coach and mathematics;- Mrs. Jean Hunsaker, music. Elementary principal is Fran cis Guidry of Jacksonville, and the clerk is Mrs. Marlene Wor- den of Medford. The secretary is Mrs. Pat Tweedy, Jacksonville, and those working in the cafe teria are Mrs. Lottie Bowman, Mrs. Alma Berriman and Mrs Mary Morgan, all of Jackson ville. Custodians and bus drivers are Tom Burnfiel, Wes Bressie and Carl Meadows, all of Medford. Mrs. Rose Rippy recently re turned from a vacation trip in which she visited her two sis ters, Mrs. Margaret Reynolds, at Fresno, Calif., and Mrs. M. D. Pence and family at Bass Lake, Calif. Recent guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Hoskins were Hoskin's brother-in-law and sis ter, Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Sharp, and sons, Jerry and Gary, of In dependence, Mo. After returning to Jacksonville, the Sharps left Wednesday for Blackfoot, Ida., to visit Mrs. Sharp's parents and other relatives before returning to Missouri. Mr. and Mrs.- Ronald Godley of Alaska, where Godley is sta tioned with the armed forces, were recent visitors in Jackson vile at the home of his grand mother, Mrs. Bernice Janosky. They also visited Godley 's par ents, Mr. and 'Mrs. Howard God ley, in North Bend. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth and Bernice Callison of Griffin creek announced this week that they have purchased Ben's Food mar ket at 108 West California st, Jacksonville. The Callisons have renamed the store Thrifty Food market, and began its operation Aug. 3. They plan some improvements on the interior of the store and to enlarge the selection of gro ceries. The store has operated the past 12 years as Ben's Food market. The recent owners, Mr. and Mrs. Ray DeLahunty, have gone to San Diego for the winter. C. L. McKinney, operator of Mac's Second Hand store, has re turned from a vacation trip and is open again for business. He visited a brother in Sawyers Bar, Calif., and in Montana visited the Lewis and Clark Caverns and Glacier National park. In Chilliwack, British Columbia, he attended the wedding of his daughter. Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Pyeatt announced this week the birth of a daughter born on July 31. The baby has been- named Judy Desire. Mrs. H. E. Pyeatt, of Klamath Falls, the baby's grand mother,- is a guest at the Pyeatt home. Mr. and Mrs. Ted Hewlett are spending this week end in Lake Wickiup near Bend. They will be met there by Hewlett's aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Austin Low, of Troutdale. Charles .Close arrived home this week after a 17 month stay at a hospital in Salem. Mr. and Mrs. J. O. Morgan of Jacksonville recently purchased the equipment at the Joel Price Hamburger Trailer and are now operating the business. Bob Mitchell, son of Mrs. Bes sie Mitchell, and his son, Danny, and daughter, Kathy, returned this week to Los Angeles. They have spent the summer months here with Mrs. Mitchell. A new patient at the Mitchell's sanitarium this week is Mrs Catherine Ray of Jacksonville. Guests at the W. L. Sutherland home the past two weeks were Mrs. Sutherland's sister-in-law, Mrs. F. M. Broyles, and children, Bill and Ann, of Tucson, Ariz. Mrs. Broyles also visited Mrs. Art McConnell in Medford. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Green and Mr. and Mrs. Herman Lusk, all former Jacksonville residents now living in California, were in town recently to attend funeral services of rs. Lillie Gilbert. Committal services( were held recently at the Jacksonville cemetery for Mrs. Ida Wertz. Mr. and Mrs. Loyd Lamb and son, Bobby, and Mr. and Mrs. Carl Hoskins spent last Sunday in Brookings. WVS ! 1"'- i It 4-S-l GRANDVIEW-LONE PINE Centennial Event Planned By LILLIAN KNIGHT Grandview-Lone Pine Gen eral chairman of the Centennial committee, Mrs. Opal Stroup, and her various committees wish to remind conjnunity resi dents of the centennial celebra tion at the school Sept. 14. There will be various kinds of entertainment, music, and a gen eral homecoming for former stu dents and teachers. Proceeds will go for a planned football field at the school. Man Killed in Chicago Said Wanted in Oregon Portland iW Authorities said Friday that Everett B. Sparks, shot to death in the Sheraton Lincoln hotel in Indianapolis, Ind., Thursday, vas wanted in Hillsboro and Beaverton, . Ore., on check and forgery charges. Sparks was shot to death by police after a wild shooting spree in which two policemen and a young woman were in- jupred. Ponce here said Sparks also had served terms in the Oregon state penitentiary, once on a check charge of obtaining money by false pretenses. GENERAL MANAGER DIES Maplewood, N. J. (IPI Percy W. Mr., and Mrs. John Salter of Pasadena, Calif., were recent va cation visitors at the Robert Stokes home. Mrs. Salter is a sister of Stokes. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Burns of Pasadena were overnight guests of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Stokes Wednesday. Both fami lies went to Elk Lumber com pany and went through the mill. For the past year they have made their home in Eugene where he graduated from the university this spring. Ronald and Leland Nelson, sons of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Nel son, are home on a 30-day leave to visit their parents, and friends. They have been in Far Eastern area on the same ship.
