I aiso wish those young mothers who smoke with a baby in their arms could do without a cigarette for that pe riod. Those three in itial names are great eye catch ers. Also most of the men hav ing them have been well-known and financially successfully. Per haps I would have done better if my folks had named me Ar thur Barry Charles Durling. Then I could have referred to myself as A. B. C. Durling. What a by-line that would have made! Then came Mickey's talked about TV success in "The Come dian" and "The George M. Co han Story." Now the bustling Rooney is considered hot prop erty in the topsy-turvy world of show business again, and is star ing, not as his usual cocky tom boy self, but as a cold-blooded killer in "Baby Face Nelson,' the story of the real American gangster. TV Helped Him "The TV shows helped tre mendously," admitted the Mick as he lolled in a bathtub (but with a gun on the edge) during a scene in the picture. "Before I had to take roles to keep work ing. Now I'm in a position to pick and choose my parts." The studio synopsis of the movie lists Baby Face's age in the story as 23, but Rooney savs he's supposed to be "27 or 28" "Well, maybe 25,? said the fast-talking actor. "But it is really a grown-up role. He's a ruthless guy, a real different part for me. This is the first time I've had my hair long in five years, I've been playing mose teen-age crew-cut roles. . Rooney also wins his first ' adult'' screen kiss in this gang ster picture. His romantic inter est is Carolyn Jones, the fiery girl of "The Bachelor Party." Although in real life he's wooed and v?on top glamour girls, such as Ava Gardner, on celluloid "I've never been the romantic type." "Now I get to kiss my first gal like I really meant it," grinned Rooney. "Why shouldn't I be the ro mantic type?" he demanded. "I l:kc girl types. I guess I Jaaven't gotten such roles because I'm short of stature like Edward G. Robinson. But he's had love roles in the movies and on Broadway. - "I don't think many people thought I had savoir faire with the ladies. Somehow I was never accepted as being old enough those Andy Hardy holes for many years not only helped me but hurt me. "But I'm 37 now.
