The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wil lard Betcher, Chesaw, and the Bridegroom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Thatcher, 210 $satty atreet. Medford. The bride's dress was of white tin designed with train and er finger-tip length veil was fceld by a crown of seed pearls ajpd miniature roses. She carried iti roses and white carnations. Three of the bride's .cousins er her attendants. Mrs. Floyd "lleishman was matron-of-honor Wi bridesmaids were the Misses Patricia Betcher and Cathlene 5ollmyer. o Mrs. Fle'-ihman's gown was of aist colored net over satin, de aOned ballerina style. The bridesmaids wore identical tVocks of pink nylon, ballerina style. All three attendants wore headresses of pink lilies. Miss Georgia Sterling was at the organ, and the Misses Evelyn and Nancy Moritr sang. The church was decorated with pink and white peonies and white candelabra held tapers. The reception which followed ins in the church parlor. About 150 guests attended the wedding and reception. The bride was graduated from the University of Washington. Seattle, last June. Mr. Thatcher attended Medford schools and Southern Oregon college. Later Miss Casper Wed To Robert Clancy In Recent Service Mr. and Mrs. Robert W. Clancy, married July 6 in Brook ings, Ore., are making their home in that city. The bride is the former Miss Jacqueline Cas per, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. D. W. Casper, 1102 West Mc- Andrews road, Medford, and the bridegroom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Robert Clancy, Brook ings. The ceremony was read by the Rev. John Spencer of the Assembly of God church in Brookings. The bride is employed by Con stitution Life Insurance com pany, and the bridegroom by Brookings Plywood corporation. Ttnt Holds Picnic In Medford Park " Eleven members of Elta Deuel Hubbs tent. Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War, joined in an annual picnic at Haw thorne park Tuesday. Mrs. Elmer Gott and Mrs. J. O. N. Poling gave humorous readings. Annual Tea Set s The annual silver tea of the Women's association of First Presbyterian church, Medford, has been set for Tuesday, Aug ust 6. It will be held in the country home of Dr. and Mrs. Dwight H. Findley, Old Stage road, from two to five o'clock. In recent years the tea has been one of the largest benefit events held in the valley. Pro ceeds are used to aid the Pres byterian medical missions and to buy "miracle drugs." he attended the University of Minnesota and is a graduate of Oregon State college in engi neering. Among the wedding guests were the bridegroom's parents, his sister, Mrs. Harry Marshall, Mr. Marshall and their small daughter, Marie Verna. Central Point The wedding of Miss Yvonne Kay Burd, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Max D. Burd, Central Point, and William Leroy Morse, son of Mrs. Bea Reagan, La Jolla, Calif.,, and O. L. Morse, Central Point, took place Sunday after noon, July 14, at Sacred Heart Catholic church, Medford. Father Nicholas Deis officiated the double ring ceremony, at tended by some 125 relatives and friends. Showers Honor Miss Stevenson; Rites in August Miss Martha Stevenson, whose wedding to Leo Murray Martin of Concord, Mass., has been set for August 8, has been hon ored at a number of parties. Miss Stevenson is a daughter of Dr. and Mrs. William W. Stevenson, 230 Saginaw drive. Mrs. William E. Driscoll and her daughter, Mrs. John J. Jen sen, were hostesses for a shower Thursday night at the former's home on South Oakdale avenue Dessert was served from a table decorated with lavender dahlias and candelabra holding tapers. Miss Stevenson was showed with gifts of crystal. Guests were Miss Stevenson, her mother and her sister, Mary, Mrs. Sam Samson, Mrs. Clifford Metz, Mrs. William Miihoan, Mrs. James Dunlevy, Mrs. Jo seph Beach, Mrs. -Merle Merri- man, Mrs. L. L. Rentz, Mrs. Rob ert Sutton, Mrs. Paul Culbert- son, Mrs. William E. Driscoll Jr., and Mrs. Charles Ely. Mrs. Culbertson was hostess Wednesday afternoon for a luncheon which honored the bride-elect. She invited a small group of Miss Stevenson's friends to the Culbertson home, 1663 Stage Road south, for the party. Mrs. Thomas E. Austin. Mrs. R. J. Higgins and Mrs. Robert C. DeVoe gave a shower party for Miss Stevenson, the event being July 23 at the Austin's home, 1541 South Ivy street. Guests were Mrs. B. J. Tom- jack, Miss Mary Annette Rentz, Mrs. Gordon Williams, Miss Jean Cardona, Mrs. Fred Johnson, Mrs. Herbert Wilson, Miss Ste venson, her mother and sister, Mary Stevenson. Another recent party was giv en by Mrs. J. W. McDuffie at her home, 129 Black Oak drive, with Miss Eva Deis as co-hostess. The guests presented the bride- to-be with linen for her new home. Gladiolus decorated the McDuffie home, and refresh ments included ices in the shape of pink hearts. Guests were Mrs. William Driscoll, Mrs. Paul Haviland, Mrs. Herbert Seitz, Mrs. J. W. McDuffie Jr., Mrs. Gordon Hud son, Mrs. B. Ray Miller, Mrs. John Laden, Mrs. Joseph An tony, Mrs. Thomas Cardona, Mrs. J. C. Miller Jr., the guest of honor, her mother and sister. The Martin-Stevenson rites have been set for 9:30 o'clock August 8 at Sacred Heart Catho lic church here. The couple will live in Concord. For her wedding the bride wore a ballerina length gown of white lace and tulle over satin, fashioned with a fitted bodice, and a full skirt with a layer oi tiered tulle down the back. She wore a fingertip length veil and carried a bouquet of a white orchid and stephanotis. Miss Gayle Childress, maid-of-honor, wore a street length dress of pink lace with white acces sories and carried a bouquet of white aglaia daisies. The brides maids. Miss Lona Bishop and Miss Karen Johnson, wore street length dresses of pink lace with pink accessories and both car ried bouquets of pink aglaia daisies. Ronald Harrison served as best man and Richard Davis, Richard Bartley and Weldon Sorenson seated the guests. Bruno Pellegrini played the church organ. The church decor ations were of pink nd white gladiolus and pink majestic daisies. Following the ceremony a re ception was held at the Jackson hotel in the Pioneer room. Mrs. Alma Anhorn and Mrs. Howard Davis cut and served the wed ding cake. Mrs. William Anhorn and Mrs. Robert Pfaff poured. Mrs. Dale Bartley took charge of the guest book and Miss Dora Pfaff was in charge of the gifts. For her daughter's wedding Mrs. Burd wore a blue lace dress with white accessories and a white carnation corsage. Mrs. Morse wore a dress of beige chif fon with white accessories and a white carnation corsage. In Medford for the wedding were Mrs. George Harrison, grandmother of the bride, and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Harrison, Long Beach, Calif.; Miss Dora Pfaff, Roseburg, Ore.; Mr. and Mrs. George L. Burd, Los An geles. Calif.; Mr. and Mrs. Tony Hudlicky and family, Seattle, Wash., The couple spent their honey moon on the Oregon coast and will make their home at. 329 North Holly street, Medford. The bride is a graduate of Crater High school and is em ployed part time at Leonards Flowers. The bridegroom is a graduate of Crater High school and is employed at the Eastside Market. 4 Couple to Wed In August Rites Eagle Point Mr. and Mrs. Otha Turner, route 1, box 658C, Eagle Point, announce the en gagement and approaching mar riage of their daughter, Miss Verna Barritt, to Harold L. Lef ler, son of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Lefler, 1015 Oak St., Central Point. Miss Barritt attended Eagle Point High school. Mr. Lefler is a graduate of Crater High school and attended Southern Oregon college last year. He plans to enter a southern California col lege in the fall. Central Medford Atwells Honored On Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. Dallas Atwell were honored at a picnic Thurs day night which observed their 40th wedding anniversary. The celebration was planned by Mr. and Mrs. George Loy, Mr. Loy having served as best man when the Atwells were married. The picnic was held in Haw thorne park, with 56 relatives and friends attending. The group presented the Atwells with a planter for their home. Mr. and Mrs. Atwell, who live at 118 Gencssee street, were mar ried June 27, 1917, in Enid. Okla. They have lived in Med ford since 1923. The party was originally planned for the date of the an niversary, but was postponed due to Mr. Loy's illness. Return Mrs. Fred Lagergren and small son, 1045 West 11th street, have returned from an extended visit with her parents in Scars dale, N.Y. She traveled east in June with Mr. Lagergren, who spent two weeks at Chanute Air Force base. 111., on active duty training with the USAF reserve. Bride-Elect Guest At Shower Party Eagle Point Miss Verna Bar ritt was honored at a pre-nuptial party given Thursday by Miss Suzanne Palm and Miss Glenda Swanson at the home of Miss Palm's parents. Miss Barritt's wedding to Harold Lefler, Cen tral Point, has been set for Au gust 17 in Community Bibla church. Eagle Point. The refreshment table was ar ranged with pink tapers and roses, and a pink and white cake was served. Punch was served from a bowl loaned by Mrs. Clara Chamberlain. Use of the bowl at showers and weddings is a tradition with Mrs. Chamber lain's friends. Miss Barritt opened her gifts after games were played. Eigh teen guests attended.
