Beavers Don't Know Where Next Victory Will Be Coming From n JIM HEALY United Press Sporti Writer Iff getting 10 the Portland Beavers don't know where their next win is coming from. And you can bet that league leading San Francisco feels any thing but merciful what with Vancouver and the hot Holly wood Stars breathing down its neck. The Seals dumped Portland for the 10th consecutive time Thursday night In a rousing 10 inning game that eventually needed the attention of 10 hurl ers. The final score was 12-7, after 22 Seal hits. San Francisco sewed it up In the extra inning with a five-run outburst which began with a round-tripper by Frank Kellert. That started the Seals into four more runs all off singles. For a time it looked like Port land had found the winning com bination by taking a second in ning lead with five runs. The big man there was Frank Carswell who hit a three-run homer that was followed by a single, two walks and an infield out. Kiely Wins Again Winner was Leo Kiely. Kiely, the winningest pitcher in the league, now has a 14-2 record. Loser Gene Fodge Is 1-4. Thursday night's fire was the worst The fire department esti mated damage at $300,000 from blaze at the Electro-Measure ments, Inc., factory on the west side of the river. Shortly after a.m. today a three-alarm fire broke out at the Screw Machine Products Company in the old Inman- Poulsen warehouse on the east side of the river. Damage was estimated at $5,000. Thre city tire trucKS were seni out on a blaze of about 10 acres at Barneburg hill south of Bar nett rd. The cause apparently was a discarded cigarette, fire men reported. They were dis patched at 7:sa p.m. Two other grass fires spread from trash blazes. One was at 1540 Ellendale dr. about 5:15 p.m. and the other at 531 i'eari St. about 3:30 p.m. Two pumpers were sent to the Pearl St. scene since a house fire alarm was given. Outside District Tho firo outside the district was in the Foothills rd. area. It covered about two acres and six patrolmen and two pumpers fouffht the flames. Patrolmen said there was indication that youngsters playing with matches may have been responsible for the fire. Central Point rural firemen said that a boy playing with matches was the cause of a small grass fire yesterday morning in private property in tne vicinity of the National Guard area on Tablp Rock rd. Medford firemen had a diver sion from grass fires yesterday aftornnon when thev were called to 410 West Jackson st. to res- mo a small doe from under a house.
