That old-time favorite, black crepe, is revived for both short and long evening wear in designer collections being shown this week to visiting fashion re porters. These include flower printed brocades and taffetas. some of them in neon-bright col ors, others in muted combina tions. - Evening wear usually features glitter, but this fall there will be more than usual. It is a rare designer without at least one beaded, sequined or embroider ed cocktail or evening dress in the collection. Favorite fabrics for evening, beside the crepes, are chiffon lame, jacquard with its elabor ate pattern woven in, the cut and panne velvets, satin chiffon, silk georgette, brocades and chantilly and re-embroidered laces. Black and white, and the vivid blues, greens and reds shows through all lines. Fur trimming is a widely used for evening as for daytime. The firm of the late Hattie Carnegie collared a brocade dinner suit in white mink. Oleg Cassini showed a pale blue satin ball gown with a cerulean mink cuff around the strapless bodice. Tine Leser stressed the knit or sweater look in her clothes shown yesterday. One of her tricks for the college set is a wide striped knit jersey "union suit." covered by a black knit skirt. She combined extra long cashmere sweater tops with skinny-cut cashmere wool or tweed skirts. Square Dance Sessions Told For Weekend Three square dance groups will hold sessions this evening or Saturday night. The Pioneer's dance club will be held at Kershaw Square to night with Gordon Kershaw and Kenny Howe calling the squares. The round dance review will begin at 8 p.m. with square dancing at 8:30 p.m. New of ficers will be installed at the session. Guests are welcome and pot luck refreshments will be served. The Waggin Wheelers Square dance club will meet Saturday, July 13, in their new location at the Camp Corral at Camp White. The public is invited and pot luck refreshments -will be served. 'Daisy" Doilies Fran Cronin will call the squares for the group meeting Saturday, July 13, in the Moose hall, at 8:30 p.m. The dance is open to the public and potluck refreshments will be served. Picnic Sunday A picnic will be held Sunday, July 14, at 1 p.m. in TouVelle State park by the RNA and Mistletoe club. Those attend ing are asked to take a lunch and their own service as hot and cold drinks will be furnished. I 7218 jjyffl Swim Classes' Family Night Programs Planned at YMCA The YMCA is now holding a swim class for mothers and chil dren of pre-school age, ages 3 to 5, at 3 p.m. every Friday after noon. All mothers who are interest ed in learning to swim and for their children to learn to swim should register now. The purpose of the class is that of teaching the mother the skills and techniques of swim ming, and then the mother in turn teaches the children. Instructor for the class is Jan Stevens. The YMCA Family Night Committee announces that on Friday, July 19, there will be a family night program, 'rom 7 p.m. until 10 a.m. The program that evening will consist of various activities in cluding swimming,- family games in the gym. Bingo, refreshments, and a short get-together of all families at the end of the pro gram. All families jn Medford and the Rogue Valley area are in vited to attend. There are still some vacancies open for the July-August Tiny Tot swim session, according to YMCA oficials. This session will begin on Monday, July 22. There will be 7 sections, with classes for members on Monday and Thursday afternoons at 1 p.m. The classes for non-members are scheduled for - Tuesday and Thursday mornings and Wednes days and Saturdays at 9 and 9:45 a.m. A service fee will be charged. For further details call the YMCA at SP 2-6295. Fan-ian Rolli Here's a way to heat baked fan-tan rolls and give them a fancy topping at the same time. Melt 3 tablespoons butter in a heavy skillet or electric fry pan and stir in 3 tablespoons each brown sugar and chopped wal nuts. Place fan-tan rolls upside down in mixture. Cover tightly and cook over low heat about 5 minutes. District Rebekah Convention In Jacksonville Tuesday Mrs. Mary Barker, president of the state assembly of Rebekah lodges of Oregon, from Suther lin, will pay her official visit to the district, Tuesday, July 16. The 49th annual Rebekah ' con vention for district 12 will be held that day in Jacksonville at the Community hall. Children Get Proteins, Lack Some Vitamins Washington (IP A three state study of school children's eating habits shows they're eat ing well. But there's plenty of room for improvement. The U. S. Department of Agri culture said the experiment sta tions in Iowa, Kansas and Ohio took a thorough look at diets of nine- 10 and 11-year-olds. They found that most school children nred more calcium, ascorbic acid and vitamin A in their daily fare. - In general, the youngsters ate plenty of protein-rich and cer eal foods,. but needed more vit-amin-r'ch fruits and vegetables. The studies showed differences of eating habits in different areas. The diets of Iowa children for instance, were highest . in food nergy value, vitamin A and ascorbic -tcid. Girls in Kan sas received more protein than those in the other two states. Advice on how the woman in vestor can handle her own mon ey and increase it is offer ed in Ralph Epstein's new book "How to Invest your Money," which is now available at the Medford public library. Knight Ceremonial Scheduled at Yreka Yreka The annual Knight rank ceremonial will be held in the Pythian cave south of here Saturday. Members of Knights of Pythias from western states will attend. The regular monthly meeting of Fuhat Burkan temple 224, Dramatic Order Knights of Kho rassan will be held at 3 p.m. (PDT) in the IOOF hall here the same day. A banquet is sched uled for 6 p.m. in the Yreka Inn. Members of Knights of Pythias and DOKK will attend the cere monial after the banquet. . it's honest work and I the trim-figured grand said. "It doesn't bore love it,' mother me." And Mrs. Moser admits she doesn't like being bored. She said she got the job because she want ed to lead a "useful, active life." "I painted my home myself; then I took a course in upholster ing. I upholstered a lot of furni ture. But one day I found myself with nothing to keep me busy." It was then Mrs; Moser decid ed to take a course in hotel maid service and get a job. "And here I am," she said. "About a dozen women started the maid service course, but only five of us finished." The silver-haired grandmother lives in a $40,000 home in one of the most fashionable sections of Miami Beach. Her neighbors include prominent names in poli tics and business. She uses her earnings at her hotel job to help three families of relatives and friends in her native France. Mrs. Moser's advice to elderly persons is "never stop working. And it's not too late to begin." I "I'm not worried if people : know what I do," she said. "I'm ' beyond all that. But I don't think : my grandchildren will ever tell i their friends."
