43 wan obtained. All boys in
this are. 14 and over are invited

plorer group even though thev
have not been a scout. The meet
ings are held Wednesday, at 7:30
p.m. in the scout hall.

Miss Gail is a student at the
University of Washington in
Seattle, where she is majoring
in studies of the far east.
Enroute home Miss Gail was
a guest at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Ben Day and their daugh
ter. Miss Vickie Day in Salem
John Payne of Sams Valley,
and her son, Howard Payne, of
Phoenix, Ore., have returned to
their homes following a trip to
Albany. Calif., where they were
railed by the illness of Frank
Payne.
Mr. and Mrs. . Elbert Maerz
and their daughter. Miss Anna
Maerz, and their two sons,
Larry and Kenneth, returned to
their home Sundey following a
trip over the weekend to Sac
ramento and-other places along
the coast.
Homecoming was observed
the last meeting of Amethys'
Rebekah lodge Wednesday even
in. June 19. in the lOOF hall,
with Mrs. Lester Parker, Noble
Grand, presiding.
Final plans were made for
the official visit of the presi
dent of Rebekah Assembly, Mrs
Mary H. Barker. She will visit
this lodge at a special meeting
July 12.
Rebekahs who plan to attend
the dinner for the president at
the Dardanelle on that date are
requested to call Mrs. Parker
before July S so she can make
the reservations. Arrangements
have been made for Mrs. Parker
at the Oaks motel.
It was also announced that
a clean up day will be held at
the hall all day on July 10. It
will be a potluck affair and all
Rebekahs are invited to come
and help.

The lodge approved the pro
posal to retain a delegate in the
United Nations Pilgrimage,
which was presented at thi
meeting by Ellsworth Robinson,
special district deputy grand
master for district 10. The pil
grimage is endorsed by the
sovengn grand lodge and is
sponsored by the Odd Fellows.
Mrs. Cecil Johnson was ap
pointed by the noble grand to
meet with delegates from thi
other Odd Fellows and Rebekan
lodges in district 10 who favor
tiie proposition. This meeting
will be held in Central Point
July 20. Harley Looney, chair
man of ihe State Joint Youth
committee will be present. There
are 14 subordinate and Rebekah
lodges in district 10. of which
nine have approved the plan to
sponsor a delegate to the pil
grimage. Tiie other five lodges
will be contacted soon.
Other visitors present for this
meeting of Amethyst Rebekah
lodge were Mrs. Jurasha Moore
and Mrs. 11a z e 1 White, both
members of the Grants Pass
Rebekah lodge. They live in
Rogue River. Mrs. Rena Palmer
ton of Rogue River was also
present for this meeting She i?
a past poble grand of this lodge,
having been a resident of Gold
Hill for many years.
Following the close of lodge
a program was presented by
Mrs. Walter McLean. Mrs. Nor
man Gail, good of the order
chairman, presented decorated
boxes containing birthday cards
from the lodge and its mem
bers to four Rebekahs who will
celebrate their birthdays in
July. George Haff will be 90
years old in July, Mrs. Carrie
Puh! and Mrs. Hannah Will both
be 80 and Mrs. Nina Dusea
berry w ill be 71.
Mrs. Parker was assisted with
the decorations for this occasion
by Mrs. Cecil Johnson, and Mrs
George Dorman. Refreshments
were served by Mrs. Wilbur
Martin, and Mrs. J. Les Graffis.
This was the last regular meet
ing of Amethyst lodge. July ana
August are vacation months The
next regular meeting will be
held the first Wedneseday in
September.
Allan Martin arrived Monday
evening, June 17, by plane from
Seattle for a two weeks visit
with relatives in Gold Hill. He
is slaying at the homes of his
grandparents. Mr. and Mrs. Wil
bur Martin and his father, Jim
Martin and family. Allan also
spent two days visiting in Med
ford at the home of his aun,
Mr. and Mrs. John Novak.
A dinner was held June 18
in Allan s honor at the .home
of Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Martin
Present from Rogue River were
his aunt, Mrs. Sid Baker and
her three children, Judy, Jean
and Jack. Mrs. Baker is the
former Vernice Martin.
Cecil Johnson was injured in
an accident at Medco in Med
ford on June 20. He was taken
to the Sacred Heart hospital.
Mrs. Joe Buchanan has re
turned to her home from the
Rogue Valley Memorial hos
pital. She was a surgery pa
tient. Mrs. Curtis Parker of Santa
Rosa, Calif., and Mr. and Mrs.
Nene Sordello and daughter.

Marty and Alan, from Tracy.

Program Given By Choir
Shady Cove - Trail Residents
of the area heard the 35-voice
Renanah choir of the Simpson
Bible college of San Francisco
when they presented a concert of
sacred music on Friday evening,
June 21. at the Assembly of God
church in Shady Cove.
The choir was brought here
through the sponsorship of the
Trail Community church, of
which the Rev. Ernest Evers is
the pastor. Two members of the'
choir are from this area. Miss
Claudia Ash, daughter of Mr.
i and Mrs. Wayne Ash of Trail,
' and Floyd Evers., son of the Rev.
and Mrs. Ernest Evers.

Simpson Bible college The in
! vocation was given by the Rev.
, Charles McClintic, pastor of the
Assembly of God church in
Shady Cove. Several quartet
I numbers were presented and
Ruseell Marshall, director of the
choir sang a special number. The
Rev. P. S. Allen president of the
' Simpson Bible college gave a
: talk on the aims and work of the
i college and just what the op
portunity of attending Simpson
meant to the young people.
The members of the choir and
others from the college were
lodged in the homes of various
church members overnight. Out
standing choral a r r a ngements
sung by the group included "Hal
lelujah, Amen" by Handel, "A
Mighty Fortress is Our God" by
Luther and a Negro spiritual
"Good a Home in That Rock."

ing part of their vacation in the

of the Indians at the last meet
ing of the Women's Missionary
Group of the Christian church.
He serves the Indians at Tacoma,
Bremerton, and Seattle, Wash.
Refreshments were served fol
lowing the meeting by Mrs. Les
ter Beihn, hostess for the af
fair, and Mrs. H. V. Munday, co
hostess. This meeting was held
in the church. The next meeting
of the group will be held the
second Friday in July at the
home of Mrs. Clarence Freeman.

moved from Shady Cove to Port
Orford. Ore., where Smith is
employed by the Bureau of Land
Management.

field, of Shady Cove, spent the
weekend visiting with Mrs. Lit
tlefield's brother and wife. Mr.

hospital where her father, Jes
se Smith Sr., has been confined
for several months following a
heart attack Smith accompanied
his daughter back to Shady Cove.
Mr. and Mrs. M. Madsen of
St. Louis, Mo, have sold their
property in St. Louis and are
moving to this area to be near
their sister and family, Mr. and
Mrs. Floyd Kelley and daughter
and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Ed
win Gebhard, of Central Point.
They are staying with the Kel
leys for a few days until they
can get located in Medford.
Mrs. Edwin Gebhard, of St.
Louis, visited with her aunt and
uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Kel
ley on Friday on 'her way to
Central Poinl, where she will
make her home. Mrs. Gebhard
was married to Edwin Gebhard
in February but remained for
the school term in St. Louis
where she was an instructor in
fine arts at Normandy High
school.
