Ore., and lived in the Willamette valley for many years before coming to southern Oregon. Couple Honored With Open House On Anniversary Friends of Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Htitchins of 870 Garfield street, Mcdford, attended an open house June 2 at the Hutchins home in honor of their fiftieth Wedding anniversary. The Hutrhins were married June 1, 1907. in Falls City. Ore., and lived many years in the Willamette valley. They have made their home in Phoenix and Medford since 1945. having mov ed here from Trinidad. Calif. A lace cloth over eold covered the table which held the tiered cake. Yellow roses and candles decorated the table. Golden paper disks were signed by the guests which will later be placed in a scrapebook in memory cf the day. Mrs. Clifford Hutchins and Mr. Thomas Hutchins served the guests, assisted by Mrs. Charles R. Bennett, sister of Mrs. C. Hutchins. The reception was given by th Clifford and Thomas Hut chins. sons and dauchters-in-law of the honored couple. The Hutchins have two other ons, Gerald Hutchins of Renton. Wash., and Harry Hutchins of Madera, Calif. Announces Meeting Past President's club of Fra ternal Order of Eagles aux;liary will meet Friday, June 14, at 1:30 p.m. at the home of Mrs. Floyd Lewis, 710 Sherman street. Laurel Gardeners Hold Installation Rogue River Mrs. William W. White was installed presi dent of Laurel Garden club Wed nesday at the meeting at the home of Mrs. E. W. Shock. Guests attending the meeting included Mrs. Ira Fitzgerald, Siskivou District director. Ore gon Federation of Garden clubs, and Mrs. Cliff Greene of the Eagle Point Garden club. Other officers installed at the meeting were Mrs. Andrew J. Guffin, vice president; Mrs. Vic tor Friden. treasurer; and Mrs. Henry L. Bonney. secretary. Mrs. White named the com mute chairmen for the coming year. They included Mrs. Claude Willoughby. membership; Mrs. C. J. Woodard, publicity; Mrs. William Patterson. Boy Scouts Take Co-Ed Hike Twelve members of Medford Air Scout Squadron 14 and 14 members of Girl Scout Troop 57 from Klamath Falls recently took part in the first co-ed hike arranged by the Klamath Falls Girl Scout district. The hike was held at the lava beds in northern California. One day was spent exploring, picnicking and swimming, cli maxed by a campfire held at Moore park in Klamath Falls. The boys were housed at Oregon Technical institute. Members of Squadron 14 who participated in the hike were Ralph Large, Merle Guches, John Clogston, Dick Clark, Mike Forbes. Eddie Albright, Jim Boyd, Alfred Fosdal, Doug Sac chi, Larry Albright, and Mike Redman. Plan Picnic Mistletoe club will hold a pic nic Wednesday, June 12, at the heme of Mrs. Carl Pearson, 118 Clark street, at 12 noon. Mem bers are asked to take a covered dish and table service. Miss Susan Hubbard (Brainerd Photo) Tournament Held By Bridge Club Thirty-eight players partici pated in the monthly master point tournament of Riverside Bridge club. High scorers in the north south position were Mrs. Berg Marten and Mrs. Jack Mitchell with Mrs. Al Gilhousen and Mrs. T. J. Fuson top in the east-west position. Other players winning in the north-south position were Mrs. D. Seely and Mrs. Fred Rehling, second; Mrs. Jean Kennedy and Roy Pruitt, third; and Mrs. R. J. Conroy and Mrs. W. W. Steven son, fourth. Second in the east-west posi tion were Mrs. Paul McDuffie and Mrs. L. Baker, with Mrs. George Choate and Al Gilhou sen, third, and Mrs. V. Hughes and Mrs. Lloyd Johnson, fourth. Townsend Club To Plan Fourth-of-July Picnic Coming events will be planned al a meeting of Medford Town send club members to be held Wednesday, June 12. Plans will be discussed for a picnic lunch eon July 4th at a local park according to Mrs. Thornton, president. Twenty eight club members and three visitors were present at last week's auxiliary meeting. Mrs. Arnold read the Townsend Washington, D.C. Flash, An article on how to obtain an af fidavit of birth certificate was read by the membership chair man, A. W. Ellison. The hall is air conditioned. Sunday, June 9. 1957 MEDFORD (OREGON) MAIL TRIBUNE FfVE First Camporee For Girl Scouts To Open Tuesday About 130 Girl Scouts and their leaders will meet at the new troop camp, Camp Chinqua pin, near the Oregon Caves, Tuesday. June 11, for the first Rogue Valley Girl Scout camp oree. The girls, who are junior and senior high school age, will spend three days camping in primitive style. Participating are Medford Troops 151. 19, 155, 2. 130. 17, 158. 168. and 166: Ashland Troop 123: Grants Pass Troop 141. Merlin Troop 15 and Cave Junction, Troops 88 and 92. Upon arrival, patrols will se lect a camp site for their unit. Tents will be pitched and tables lashed. Each troop is responsible for it's own food and equipment. Meals will be cooked on charcoal broilers the girls have made, or over a campfire. A first flag raising ceremony for the new camp site has been planned by Grants Pass Troop 141. There will be a general camp fire program each night, and each troop will prepare a skit to present at one of them. The first night's campfire will be in charge of Senior Troop 130 and will include presentation of curved bar awards to Troops 151. 19 and 155. The second night's program will be directed by Senior Troop 2. Wednesday the program for the day will be planned indi vidually by each patrol. There will be trails to follow, both by Medford Extension Unit The annual picnic of Medford Extension unit will be held at TouVelle park on Rogue river. The group will meet at 12 noon Wednesday, June 12. All mem bers are asked to take a salad cr a dessert, unless they have Plans Annual Picnic been notified otherwise. During the business meeting, the officers for next year will be installed. Children are invited. compass and trail signs, and a forest ranger to assist in earning the tree badge. Many of the girls will be learning new camping skills. Camp will end Thursday fol lowing a "Scouts' Own " cere mony by Troop 123.
