A total of 37 ships sailed into the canal Saturday in north and southbound convoys. For the first time since Egypt reopened the canal, the number equalled the daily average prior to last July when the waterway was nationalized. Zephyr Hits Slide. Derails in Canyon Oroville, Calif. irr The Western Pacific's Chicago-bound Zephyr hit a rock slide about 20 miles east of here Saturday and derailed in the Feather river canyon. There were no injuries, ac cording to WP's dispatching of fice in Sacramento, which said it has been in "constant contact" with the train conductor, James Crowe. Ships Give Up Search In North Sea for Sub - London (IP) British, Dutch and Swedish ships searching the North Sea have found no trace Saturday of a submarine which had been believed sunk about midway between Britain and the Northern Netherlands. The "flashing buoy," sighted Friday night by the Danish freighter whose signals set off the search also had vanished. It was believed to have sunk. The only "foreign object" found in the area was an anch ored oil drum dropped by the Danish freighter Mary North to mark the approximate position of the mysterious buoy.
