(Brainerd photo) Medford Student In Piano Recital Douglas Cummings, Medford High school senior, was present ed in a piano recital given Thursday "night at Sacred Heart academy in Klamath Falls. Miss Judith. Brauner, Klamath Falls, also appeared on the program. The two 'are pupils of Sister Cecilia Frances of the academy. The young man is a son of Mr. and Mrs. C. E. (Brainerd photo) Miss Jane Barker Is Queen Of 1957 Junior Prom Saturday Miss Jane Barker, senior, was crowned queen of Medford High school's 1957 Junior Prom held Saturday, May 11, in the school gymnasium. Miss Barker is the oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Barker, 2430 Hillcrest road. Her attending princesses were Miss Lois Elkins, Miss Denise Bruning and Miss Sally Ross, seniors; Miss Myda McCabe, Miss Patricia Rushton, Miss Win nie Gott and Miss Susan Hub bard, juniors. Queen Jane received her crown from Bruce West, presi dent of the student body. She wore a frock pf pink cotton dot ted Swiss with pink necklace. She was escorted into the gym nasium and to her throne by Bruce West, and her escort for the evening was Kent Ballard. Class officers and student body officers served as escorts for the princesses. Weldon Kline, Rodney Keating, Kenneth Den man, Stephen G. Nye, William Frake, Curtis Hopkins, John Boyle and Roy V. Rickard have been invited to pour at the Jack son. County Republican Women's club silver tea to be held to m6rrow afternoon, May 20. The event will be from 3 to 5:30 p.m. at the home of Mrs. C. Rease Braley, 245 Valley View drive. Mrs. C. D. Francis, general chairman, has been assisted by Mrs. Braley, Mrs. William H. Bartlett and Mrs. Sheridan Scott. Mrs. Wayne Stine, club presi dent, arranged a program of mu sic. Mrs. Otto Frohnmayer will play background music. A trio composed of the Misses Rose mary Doolen, Colleen Barr and Susan Hall will sing. The tea is open to the public. "Fantasia" was the theme for decorations. A false ceiling rep resented a blue sky with stars, and pixies, gnomes, butterflies and other creatures of fantasy land decorated the walls and made up a border which divid ed the dance area from tables. Girls dressed as pixies served refreshments. Mrs. Delphie Cox and Ryder Berg are advisors for the class. Other class officers are Miss Sharon Walsh, secretary; Miss Linda Smith, treasurer and Tom Morris, representative. Faculty members and parents served as chaperones for the event. Chapter to Mark 21st Anniversary Two chapters of the PEO Sis terhood will meet this week. Tuesday, May 21, chapter BE of PEO Sisterhood will celebrate its 21st birthday at the home of Mrs. Allen F. Perry, 105 Geneva avenue, at 8 p.m. Assisting host esses will be Mrs. F. Wilson Wait and Miss Annette Gray. Mrs. Orel A. Welsh will be in charge of the program. Chapter AA of PEO will meet with Mrs. S. C. Watkins of 1528 Terrace drive, Wednesday, May 22. Hostesses will be Mrs. J. R. Dellenback and Mrs. S. J. Lacy: Pictures for the memory book are part of the Junior Prom fun, and this year the efficient committee set aside a corner for photo snapping, complete with little white wrought iron bench and a romantic flower banked pool. Doty was elected president of Wednesday Study club at a luncheon meeting held May 15 in the Church of the Brethern. Mrs. Minnie G. Ball, retiring president, conducted the business meeting. . Also elected , to office were Mrs. H. S. Chirgwin, vice-president; Mrs. L. V. Watkins, secre tary and Mrs. Geraldine Mitch ell, treasurer. This was the last meeting of the season, with the next meet ing set for October when the club will begin its 49th year. It is the oldest of the women's or ganizations in the valley. Sisters Here Mr. and Mrs. George Cosbie, Lake Tahoe, Calif., and Mr. and, Mrs. W. E. Schoonover, Port land, are spending the week end here with Mr. and Mrs. E. N. El dridge, 333 South Holly street, and Mrs. Harold Burk, 9 King street. The four women are sis ters, and nieces of 'Mrs. C. W. Palm, who makes her home with Mr. and Mrs. Eldridge. Talent Mrs. Henrietta Prue- ter of Westmont, 111., is visiting her brother, William Kamberg of Walden lane, Talent. This is the first time Mrs. Prueter has seen' her brother in 50 years. Mrs. Prueter, who ar rived April 14, will return to Illinois late next week. 1 Lady Elks Plan Guest Luncheon Medford Lady Elks will enter tain the Grants Pass Lady Elks at a luncheon and an afternoon of cards Tuesday, May 21, at the Elks temple. The luncheon will start at 12:30 p.m. Mrs. Robert Reynolds is chair man. The Medford women are asked to take salads for the luncheon.
