To Organize New PTSA Plans for organization of a parent-teacher - student associa tion in Medford High school were formulated in a recent meeting at the high school. Mrs. Richard Alley was elected chair man of the steering committee, and Mrs. Curtis Donahue was elected secretary. A tentative set of bylaws was discussed and will be presented for consideration and adoption at the organizational meeting set for Tuesday, May 21 at 8 p.m. in the high school auditorium. Prime purpose of the PTSA will be to promote better understand ing among the parents of the high school young people in the community. Aftar Exhibit Madelon Adler Petroff Concert Set By Pianist Ashland Madelon .Adler Petroff, pianist, will appear Sun day, May 19, at 3 p.m. with the Southern Oregon College en semble in Churchill hall audi torium, it was announced by Glenn T. Matthews, director. Beginning her career at the age of five, Mrs. Petroff has since made numerous concert appear ances on the west coast. She studied for a short time under Ernest Bloch whose compositions she will play Sunday. Besides her concert piano playing, Mrs. Petroff numbers among her ac complishments that of being a top-flight organist and teacher. The artist is a graduate of the University of Oregon, attended the Julliard School of music in New York, and received her master's degree at Lewis and Clark college in Portland. She is married to Dr. Eugene Petroff and has two small sons. The Pet roffs now " reside in Klamath Falls, but are moving to Port land soon where Dr. Petroff will further his medical career. Miss Sheila Adler, one of the ensemble members, is a sister to Madelon Petroff, and is a sopho more majoring in elementary education at the college. Their parents are Dr. and Mrs. George H. Adler, formerly of Klamath Falls, now in residence at Camp White. Donald Quick, also a member of the ensemble, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Quick, of Pair's Tourney To Close Tuesday The second session of the an nual men's and women's pairs tournament of Medford Dupli cate Bridge club will be held Tuesday, May 21, in Moose hall. Fourteen tables of players parti cipated in the first session, held Tuesday of this week in the same hall. Four pairs of men took the top six places, with only two pairs of women players placing.. The winners were Maurice Coode and Howard Brock, both of Grants Pass, first, 22ZVz points; George Rode and Roy Pruitt, second, 206; Mrs. Kay Walker and Mrs. Phyllis Daven port, both Grants Pass, third, 201; Berg Marten and Jack Mitchell, fourth, 196; Mrs. Paul Hatton and Mrs. Thomas Ran dall, fifth, 193V2; B. Clyde Fichtner of the Medford police department will speak at the eighth annual school safety patrol banquet at 6:30 p.m. today at the Jackson hotel. Captain Fichtner will trace de velopment of the school safety patrol program in Medford and show how the training gained by boys and girls in this program benefits them in later life. The banquet will honor youths who comprise the safety patrols at Medford public, schools and St. Mary's parochial "" school. Mayor John Snider will present the individual awards to safety patrol members on behalf of the Medford Safety council.. , Invocation will be given by the Rev. John Ilg of Sacred Heart church. Russ-Jamison will be master of ceremonies and Caesar Muzzioli's accordion group will provide . entertain ment. Aubrey Loper, president of the safety council, expressed ap preciation to the Medford , ser vice clubs who are helping to de fray expenses of the banquet. Souvenir While Cane Sale Set Saturday The Jackson Council of the Blind will hold its annual souve nir white cane sale Saturday, May 18, on the streets of Med ford. . . Proceeds from sales of the small white plastic canes will be used in rehabilitation of the blind. The funds help provide vocational training, medical and social research to assist blind people. They are also used to pro mote such legislation as the White Cahe Traffic law. May 17, 195 MEDFORD (OREGON) MAIL TRIBUNE THREE Boy Scout Circus Will Be Saturday About 1,800 Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and Explorers ill par ticipate in the Crater Lake Area council Boy Scout circus at 8 p.m. tomorrow in the Medford High school stadium. More than 1,000 of the par ticipants will be from Medford and Jackson county. Theme will be "Onward for God and My Country." Circus features will include a grand entry parade led by massed American flags. Acts showing Scout skills in first aid, fire by friction and flint and steel, sig naling and camping will be pre sented. About 10 Boy Scout troops will present scenes de picting "Get Out the Vote" and "Emergency Service." Tickets may be obtained from any Cub Scout, Boy Scout or Explorer.
