A reminder is sent to all mem bers that their donations for Fairview Home should be brought to the meeting. Police Chief Harold Ottosen was called to the residence of J. G. Hannaford to determine the cause of a broken screen and window which was damaged Thursday between 8 and 9 p.m. The screen and window were evidently broken by a stick as no debris was found in the house to indicate breakage by rock. Bertha Ulrich, Martha Knoebel and Doris Holsapple, Eagle Point elementary school cafeteria per sonnel, attended the cook's dem onstration on sandwich making at the Hedrick Junior High school in Medford April 27. The NeWa Can Tanda group of Camp Fire girls gave a party Friday to receive rank. Invited guests were Wally West, Steve Geren, Doug Smith, Tommy Per due, Kenny Bales, Ronny Vied man, Sandy Cheek and Mike Palm. Refreshments of potato salad, hot dogs and punch were pre pared and served by the Camp Fire group. Mrs. Hanscom, as sistant -leader, and Mrs. Carl Christian were chaperones in the absence of their leader, Mrs. LeRoy Bedingfield. The " Amici . chapter Horizon club held a , special meeting at the home of Edna Gray in Eagle Point and their regular meeting at Sharon Roberts home in Med ford to formulate plans, for a Style Show and Luncheon. Mem bers attended from Ashland, Talent, Medford, Trail and Eagle Point. The tentative date of May 25 was set for the style show and luncheon to be held at the Rogue Valley Country club. Information and tickets may be obtained from any of the. members. Sports this past week saw Eagle Point defeating teams in baseball, tennis, volley ball and track. The track team won first place trophy at the Rogue league meet Saturday at Ashland. The first three' places qualifying at this meet in each event will com pete Saturday May H on the SOCE field at the district track meet. Eagle Point placed boys in every event but the mile. Those qualifying were Norman Hooper, Wayne Christian in two events, Jack Greb in four events, Bill McClure in three events, David Improving Huffman, John Jackson, Frank Ross in two events, Dick Schau ble, Neil Dusenberry, Steve Charters and Chares Pettigrew. The first two winners of each event at this meet will go to the state track meet the following Saturday. Building permits were issued to L. L. In next week's return match, Bloomgarden could increase his winnings to $94,500. Already he has run his score up to $52,500 and next week he'll be playing for $2,000 a point.. Many Germans Leaving To Escape Military Duty Bremen, Germany (U.R) Many young Germans are leav ing for foreign countries to es cape military service and the threat of war, a survey showed today. The survey by the'Emigration Counselling Service here said these reasons were given by an increasing number of men and the 20 to 30 year age groups.
