TWO MEDFOHD (OREGON) MAIL TRIBUNE Tufidty, May 7. 1957 Leaders Are Trained At Gray back Forty-five Girl Scout leaders from the Medford and Grants Pass districts of the Rogue Val ley Area council took part in a troop camp licensing session held May 3-4 at the new Girl Scout troop camp site on Gray back creek near Cave Junction. Training chairmen for the ses sion were Mrs. Hugh Mouton of Grants Pass and'Mrs. Lawrence Buonocore, Medford. Mrs. Wil liam Baker, field director for the Area council, also attended. The course, designed to give the leader help in planning and carrying out overnight camping with their , troops, included in , struction in campfire cookery, tent raising, lashing and knots, and compass reading. Instruction in tent raising was given by Boyd Hixson; George Coot gave instruction in knots and lash ings; and John Morford laid out a compass trail and gave in struction on following it. These men are Explorer and Boy Scout leaders from the Grants Pass district, and they were as sisted by eight Explorer Scouts from, troops 80 and 87, Grants Pass. Griggs and Mrs. Bruce Stuart: from Rogue River, Mrs. Mae Hoffman and Mrs. Parker Pugh. Grants Pass leaders taking the course were Mrs. C. . Stanley Ferris,. Mrs.. O. K. Olson, Mrs. Max Riebert, Mrs. Ted Bergold, Mrs. Jean Rognaas, Mrs. T, D. Gettling, Mrs. Ursel Waterman and Mrs. Robert Anderson. Two Talent Garden Club Announces Show Talent Talent Garden club will hold a flower show Thurs day, May 16. The event was planned at the last meeting, held at the home of Mrs. Gil bert Hill with Mrs. Chester Zediker assisting. The theme will be "Spring Showers." General chairman for- the show are Mrs. John Baldwin and Mrs. Leon Lockwood. Mrs. Charles Long and Mrs. E. G. Taylor are tea chairmen, Mrs. Zediker and Mrs. Hill are ar rangements chairmen and Mrs. Ormy Goddard will take charge of a plant sale. Mrs. Glen Mos ser is chairman of a white ele phant sale and Mrs. Loyal Bates, a food sale. Election of officers was held, with Mrs. John Baldwin named president. Other new officers are Mrs. Laura Hoyland, vice president; Mrs. Leon Lockwood, treasurer; Mrs. John McCard well, secretary. Mrs. L. O. Penland, Phoenix, gave a lesson on corsage mak ing. f Lake Creek Unit To Close Year Lake Creek Lake Creek Ex tension unit will hold the final meetinj of the year at the home of Mrs. William L e m m o n, Meridian road, Wednesday, May 8. The lesson will be "Re-upholstering Chairs with Foam Rub ber and Plastics." An honored guest will be the home extension agent, Miss Mary Pat Lucy. The menu will consist of foods appropriate for a picnic. The meeting will start at 10:30 a.m. and an invitation is extended to any woman to attend. The American Mothers com mittee, in selecting the 68-year-old mother of one so., and four daughters, said Mrs. Abel ful fills the qualifications for the award as a sucessful mother, an active member of a religious body, a civic leader and a per son qualified , to represent the mothers of America.
