Nuclear Tests Boost Cattle Radioactivity Chicago CU.R) Veterinarians report that within five days after testing of a nuclear weapon in Nevada, marked increases have been noted in radio-active iodine in the thyroid glands of Nevada cattle. According to the American Veterinary Medical association, the Veterinary Corps of the U.S. Army and Air Force and re searchers at the University of California have made exhaustive studies of the effect of radioac tive fall-out on livestock and livestock fodders. The researchers reported that the Increased radioactivity in cattle resulted from the fact that the animals grazed on grass and foliage exposed to fall-out. The thyroids of human beings in the same area have less than 11000 of the amount of radio active iodine found in cattle, ths association said. In human be ings, this U only a small portion of the radiation received in a chest X-ray. the association said, and is considered harmless. 27-BUSINESS DIRECTORY Pump Serrica JIFFY PUMP SERVICE UNIVERSAL PUMP SALES Th Rugged Pump for Every PurpoM PurnD Rental! & Repair Will also Drill your well. 1311 N Riverside Ph 3-5510 or 3-5039 Poultry & Eggs BUYER.
