1 Lodged In Jail Douglas Earl Jones, 33, of route 1, box 62, Medford, was lodged in the coun ty jail Tuesday on a charge of assault and battery. He was ar rested by sheriffs deputies. No Radio Contact With Mayflower II London H.R There has been no radio contact with the May flower II from this side of the Atlantic in nearly 24 hours, monitors reported today. The last contact was Wednes day afternoon when Capt. Alan Vflliers reported he would have to abandon the original Pil grim Fathers' route because of unfavorable winds. The ship was 300 miles at sea. He said he would change the course to the southern route and could not reach Cape Cod until the first week in June. Kerr Says Ike's Stall j Running Government ! Washington !U.R) Sen. Rob j ert S. Cookies JIMMY ALLEN'S 99' Central Point Firemen Called to Orchard Central Point Central Point rural firemen were called to the Crater Lake orchard, 6066 Crater Lake highway, Medford, about 3:30 a.m. today when the platform holding the oil tank caught fire. Four firemen responded with two vehicles from the White City station. They said that dam age was not extensive. Owner of the orchard is War ren Baylis. OBITUARIES Mri. Susie Eleanor Hansen Mrs. Susie Eleapor Hansen, 62, died at her home in Browns boro this morning. Perl Funeral home is in charge of arrange ments. FLOYD FORREST DICKEY Ashland Floyd Forrest Dickey, 65, of Tolman rd., Ash land, died Wednesday at his home. Mr. Dickey was born March 16, 1892, in Grants Pass and moved to Ashland in 1894 where he has since made his home. He married the former Miss Doro thy Ralston in 1918. He operated the first taxi ser vice in Ashland and later work ed for the Southern Pacific rail road and operated a radio and radio repair shop. He was an amateur radio operator and from 1918 through 1939 Mr. and Mrs. Dickey played for dances in the area. He is survived by his wife. A sister, Miss Nellie Dickey, an Ashland attorney, died in 1948. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 26, at 3:30 p.m. at Litwiller's Mountain View Chap el in Ashland. Interment will be Ashland cemetery. Elks Lodge and the Rev. John Thompson, pastor of the Episcopal church, will be in charge of the service. The family has requested that in lieu of other than garden flowers donations be made to the Episcopal Memorial fund. FOREST (MIKE) MIRCALE Forest (Mike) Mircale, 44, To ketee Falls, died, unexpectedly Thursday in a Roseburg hos pital. He was born in South Haven, Minn., in 1913 and lived in the Applegate area for about 11 years. He was plant operator at Toketee Falls for the California Oregon Power company imme diptely prior to his death. Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Lyon Mircale, to whom he was married in Vancouver, Wash.; one son, Charles Mircale, at home; three daughters, Mrs. Robert Franks, Glide, Ore.,. Jo Ann and Shirley, both at home; and one grandchild, Laurel Franks, Glide. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 27, at Long and Orr Funeral parlor in Roseburg. Vehicles driven by Harold Calloway Wainscott, 322 East Main st., Medford, and Robert Rogers Stewart, route 2, box 415E, Medford, .were involved in an accident at the intersection of- North Holly and Third sts., according to police reports. Wainscott was cited by police for failing to yield right of way. At 7:35 p.m. a car driven by Eddie Marion Gregory, 725 Clark st., Medford, struck a parked car registered to Dale and Iris McGoffin, route 2, box 810, Central Point, according to police reports. The accident oc curred on South Central ave. be tween Ninth and Tenth sts. Gregory was cited by police for not having an operator's li cense. Late Wednesday two cars col lided on West 11th st. between Laurel st. and Newtown ave. The vehicles were operated by Dorothy Wave Mason. 1947 Kings highway, and Clarence Joseph Campbell, 707 West 11th st. according to city police. No citations were issued. Attempt Made to Burglarize Station Central Point An attempt to burglarize Panter's Richfield service station and supply com pany, 420 North Pacific high way, Central Point, last night was reported today by Police Chief Wallace Bowen. Bowen said a burglary de tector was installed recently after a fire, and an attempt was made last night tq short the de tector out. However? Bowen said, the detector worked, and officers responded, but arrived at the station too late. Bowen said nothing was taken or damaged in the burglary at tempt. Police are continuing their investigation. Episcopal Diocese To Meet in Eugene Eugene (U.R) The Episco pal Diocese of Oregon will hold its 69th annual meeting here be ginning April 28. The opening service will be held at the Erb Memorial union on the Univer sity of Oregon campus, according to Bishop Benjamin D. Dagwell. A new truck parts store at 3230 North Pacific highway Medford, has been opened by the Roberts Motor company of Portland to serve southwestern Oregon, H. W. Roberts, presi dent, has announced. The company purchased an acre of land and has remodeled a modern concrete building to serve as a parts store and sales area for Kenworth trucks. Roberts said the firm will handle several name truck parts, including Timken, Brown-Lipe, Spicer, Kysor, Gemmer and others. Wes Fowler, who has been with the Roberts firm in Port land for the past 11 years, will serve as parts manager for the Medford firm. The company was established by the late O. W. Roberts in Portland in 1911. Two Girls Perjsh in Fire at Gaston Gaston, Ore. U.R Two young girls were burned to death early today when a fire destroyed the home of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hiscock of Gaston. The parents and a son es caped but Roberta, 11, and Judy, 7, died in the bedroom they shared. By the time neighbors noted the flames and arnnsprl trip His- the girls was already engulfed. The parents and the small boy barely escaped in their night clothes.
