HARDING McLeod Mr. and Mrs. Don Flackus and family have moved from the. Krannburg home on the Rogue river to the Claud Close house on Butte Creek. Mr. and Mrs. Wendell Vaughn of Medford were week end guests of Vaughn's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Vaughn on Sat urday, April 13. Mrs. Ruth Hart, of Sacra mento, Calif., has been the house guest of Mrs. Hazel Ul rich. On Wednesday evening. April 10, Mr. and Mrs. Bud Chandler had Mr. and Mrs. Ul- rich as dinner guests at their home on Crater Lake highway. in and around Prospect and Mc Leod. On Thursday evening Mrs. Halley was a dinner guest of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Hume while Miss Kathy was a guest of her friend, Roma Schaffer. After dinner they all attended Jobs Daughters Bethel No. 56 of Shady Cove, of which Miss Kathy is a member. Sympathy is extended to Mrs. Alice Conger, Robert Conger, Mrs. Florence Shaffer, Mrs. Marge Langston and Mrs. Georcie McKillip upon the death of their father, Lawrence Ccsaaer. Urs. Lee Wilson and daughter hai gone to Modesto, Calif., to jnw Mr. Wilson who is working for PG&E. Divorcee Has Little Faith in Ball Hero Chicago ''U.R) A young di vorcee apparently has little faith in her husband's future as a base ball hero. Mrs. Arleen Gatti, 20, of sub burban Elmhurst, waived ali mony from Albert Gatti, 23, when she obtained a divorce Monday on grounds of cruelty. She said Gatti, a student and baseball star at Bradley Univer sity in Peoria, 111., is interested in a baseball career. However, she said she had no interest in her former husband's potential baseball jsalary. Her attorney, Joseph H. Beck er, asked if she understood "that in waiving alimony you may be forfeiting a considerable amount as he may turn out to be another Babe Ruth or Joe DiMaggio?" "I understand," she replied, and dismissed the subject. She accepted only support payments of 515 a week for her daughter, Marie, 8 months, in th proceedings before Superior Court Judge Harry Hershenson. Marines Plan To Enlist 10,000 in Six Months Washington ;U.R The Ma rine Corps has announced it plans to enlist 10,000 young men in its six-month reserve training programs during the fiscal year beginning July 1. Only four of the 21 coastal states require state, licenses for salt water fishing. School Disfric! Boundaries Altered School district boundary lines for two parcels of land were ordered changed Tuesday a meeting of the Jackson county district boundardy board. A section of property between Springbrook rd.. Crater Lake ave., Buckshot Hill rd., and Rob erts rd., was changed from the Lone Pine school district to the Medford school district. A section consisting of 634 acres, was ordered changed from the Medford' district to the Lone Pine district. The land is between Roberts rd., Crater Lake highway, Whittle ave. and Crater Lake ave. The land was transferred from the old Kenwood district to Medford in 1952. Purpose of the transfer at that time was to give Medford an additional school building site. It was later learned this site could not be used because it was in line with the Medford airport flight ap proach pattern. When the Ken wood district was dissolved last year, this portion would have gone to the Lone Pine district if it had not been part of Medford. Too Many Hours For School Children Harrisburg, Pa. (U.R) The American elementary school child is putting in too many academic hours during a day, according to six foreign elemen tary school teachers who recent ly spent some time observing teaching methods and study pro grams in various Pennsylvania schools. The visitors, representing Cam bodia. Guatemala, Finland, Mex ico, Egypt, and Germany, said they thought the American pub lic school system went far be yond the three R's in the ele mentary program and gave im portant emphasis to good citizen ship. County Budget Group Postpones Meeting Meeting of the Jackson county budget committee has been post poned from Wednesday, April 24, to Friday, May 4, members reported today.
