Saturday games with 1 shuffled line-up were tighter than the Friday mix and the Raiders could be stronger for their OTI fray. Oregon college won 3 to 2 and 2 to 1 on Saturday after taking the Friday encounter 6 to 2. Raider pitching was strong enough but the Ashlanders couldn't muster scoring punch and errors hurt in the first game. Ned Landers tossed a three-hitter and Dave D'Olivo a seven-hitter. The Wolves also got seven raps in the second mix in which Duane Sides took over in the third inning for SOC hurler Ray Thiess who develop ed a sore arm. Bunched Walks, Hits Southern Oregon had a 2 to 0 lead in the first game Satur day but the Wolves bunched two walks with all their hits in the sixth inning for their runs. The Oregon college win in the second game came on a seventh inning tally which broke a 1 all deadlock. Return of sprinter Clarence Baker, who has been out with sore ankles, should bolster the Raider track team for the three way fuss. The Raiders haven't had a meet for about 10 days. They trailed Linfield their last time out but Gary Lewis in the javelin, Bill Stewart in the shot put and Keith Lockhart in the discus all set new SOC school records. Bold Ruler Rated High for Derby New York (U.R) Sunny Jim Fitzsimmons, dean of American race horse trainers, is so high on the Kentucky derby chances of his Bold Ruler he is planning to see his first Rose run in 15 years. The 82-year-old Mr. Fitz re pealed today he will ship Bold guler to Churchill Downs either Tuesday or Wednesday and will follow the Wheatley colt to Louisville on Sunday. Mr. Fitz. who doesn't like to fe-avel, said he wants to be around to supervise all of Bold Ruler's workouts leading up to the Derby on May 4, in which the winner of last Saturday's Wood Memorial in track record time will hook up with the Calu met Farm's dangerous pair of Gen. Duke and Iron Liege. (International) Sport Slate This Week Outlined St. Mary's and Prospect high baseball teams, vying at Pros pect this afternoon, started off another heavy week in prep spring sports for Rogue valley aggregations. Two baseball games are set for Tuesday with Jacksonville var sity meeting Crater jayvees at Central Point and Rogue River going to Butte Falls for a non league brush. Grants Pass ten nis crew comes to Medford. Wednesday baseball puts Ash land and Medford junior var sities in action here. Medford high golfers are to meet South ern Oregon college at Ashland. Illinois Valley will come to Phoenix for a Thursday after noon track encounter. Friday Slat Heavy Friday is the heavy sports day of the week. Medford baseball players will oppose the Univer sity of Oregon Frosh at Eugene. Klamath Falls battles Crater at Central Point and Ashland goes to Grants Pass. Eagle Point will open Rogue league baseball play against Illinois Valley at Cave Junction. In the Jackson County B loop scraps are Prospect at Jacksonville, Butte Falls at Rogue River and Talent against St. Mary's at the fairgrounds here. In track on Friday Rogue River is scheduled at Eagle Point. Crater and Hedrick ninth graders will collide here. Med ford tennis players go to Grants Pass. Medford's baseball nine will have two games with Eugene high at Eugene. Bill Sweeney Services Held Arcadia, Calif. (U.R) Fun eral servicces were held today for Bill Sweeney, veteran Pa cific Coast league baseball man ager. Sweeney, 53, manager of the Portland Beavers, died last Thursday following an operation for an ulcer at San Diego. Rosary for Sweeney was re cited Sunday night and final rites were conducted this morn ing at the Church of Holy Angels and the David J. Malloy mortu ary chapel. Interment followed at Resurrection cemetery in nearby San Gabriel. Acting Portland Manager Frank Carswell and five of the Beaver players served as pall bearers at the funeral. KF Netters Top Tornado Klamath Falls zeroed the Medford high net squad 7 to 0 at Klamath on Saturday. Next rivalry for the Tornado tennis crew will be against Grants Pass here Tuesday. Mrs. Hagge Golf Victor Lawton. Okla. (U.R) Mar- lene Bauer Hagge, last year's top money winner on the ladies pro fessional golf circuit, continued her current tour today with a second tournament victory to her credit, the $5,000 Lawton Open. Mrs. Hagge, a Del Ray Beach, Fla., product playing out of Dal las, Tex., won the $880 first prize Sunday with an uncompli mentary 38-36 74, two over par and poorest score of the top four finishers. However, earlier rounds of 70 and 72 gave her a 54-hole total of 216, three strokes better than her nearest opponent. Betsy Rawls finished second with a pair of 35s for a total of 219 and S616 in prize money. Tied for third at 220 were Ruth Jessen, whose 69 was the best score of the day, and Wiffi Smith, winner of the Dallas Open. They received $484 each. 4 Clubs Tied In ND Chase By UNITED PRESS The Northern Division base ball race was in a four-way tie for first place today. Oregon State turned the tables on Oregon at Eugene Saturday for an 8-5 victory while Wash ington State did the same to Washington and won 14-3 at Pullman. All four teams are 1-1 with Idaho not yet played. Syl Johnson twirled a seven hitter for OSC against Oregon while the Beavers got 13 hits off four Duck hurlers. RACE DRIVER DIES . Honolulu (U.R) Lou Brerb Sr., veteran sports car racer from Areata, Calif., died Sunday night from injuries he suffered when his borrowed Maserati Chevrolet burst into flames dur ing the second event of the Hawaii International Sports Car races. The 52-year-old sports car enthusiast was burned over 70 per cent of his body area during the class E production car race Sunday. Seven Persons Die in Washington Accidents By UNITED PRESS Sunday was deathless but a series of accidents Saturday caused seven persons to meet death in Washington state over the Easter week end. Five died on the highways, one man was electrocuted and another person suffocated in a fire. One of the victims was Dar rell Edward Elliott, 33, Portland, Ore., "who died when his motor cycle and a car collided near the Grays ' river in Wahkiakum county. . By controling smut in wheat, North Dakota fanners are ad ding a quarter to half a million dollars to their annual income. Unbeaten leadership of the Rogue Valley Women's Volley ball tournament at the YMCA will be at stake Tuesday night when the YMCA Women and Crater Girls collide. Their match is set for 8:30 p.m. Both are undefeated at present, the YMCA team with six victories and Crater with five.
