Seriously injured were Mrs. Vish and Ray Wyatt, proprietor f the Table Rock store, passen- m rs in the car. Wyatt is now in the Sacred Heart 'hospital with a fractured skull, broken arm and other injuries. Mrs. Tisch is being treated for injuries in the Alt. Shasta hospital. The Pisch family, although not to very well known in the com munity, were building a 12 room home on the north slope of low er Table Rock, and intended to mve here after the completion of the dwelling. The Bert Pierce family were bunday visitors with Mrs, Pierce's uncle. Glen Pruitt and family of Grants Pass. They brought back some choice glad ioli bulbs, Pruitt being a bulb grower and propagator of new varieties for many years. Some of his exquisite creations bring ing as much as $2,000 for a sin gle bulb. The lane running through the Tuttle subdivision, established some 25 years ago, has, during the time since, been known by different names. Bigham lane and pumice lane seem to be the most popular. Some called it Pummey Lane and now the teen aged daughter of the Brown's who reside there, has dubbed it Puny Lane. Farmers in this area with barns filled with unsold hay are plowing up alfalfa fields to be seeded to grain. W. I. The construction of the Ernest Smith house is going ahead on schedule and will be finished about June 1. Mr. and Mrs. Homer Edge comb, and son Jerry, accompa nied by Tom Butler, all of Su sanville, Calif., and Mrs. Emma Houston of Kanes creek were visitors here Monday. Hank Wilson, of Medford, was recently through here, selling tickets for the Roosevelt Me morial dinner to be held in Med ford April 27. The death of Judge Rawles Moore came as a surprise and a sincere feeling of regret to lo cal friends of the Moore family. We have known Judge Moore for many years, and valued his friendship very highly. On sev eral occasions we have visited his court and observed his hand ling of cases, sometimes show ing leniency to younger offend ers in turn for promises to hence forth obey the laws. Although a good friend of ours, we have always felt that should we ever come into his court with a guilty plea, we would get the same pun ishment as any one else. Griffin Creek School Schedules Concert Griffin Creek school will hold its annual spring concert in the school gymnasium at 8 p.m. Wed nesday, April 24. The concert, under the direc tion of Steve Whipple, will be on a spring theme, with varied num bers. The band and charuses will perform and an instrumental quarter and solos are on the pro gram. There wil be no formal ed mission charge, but a jar will be placed at the door for dona tions to the musical fund. The school is trying to raise $100 to purchase music for the coming year. Randolph Hugdahl, Medford trombonist, will be guest performer. Toothless Recruits To Serve Trial Period Bonn, Germany (U.R) The West German Army has ruled that toothless recruits must serve a three-month trial period before being issued a set of false teeth. If they want the set' of five uppers and five lowers before that they'll have to pay $47.95. The defense ministry said the ruling was to prevent toothless men from volunteering for the army, getting their choppers and then quitting before becoming full-fledged soldiers. On The Side By E. V. The conduc tors were fired and with the money thus saved the drivers were given the raise asked for. In some sections it takes one- man buses 45 minutes to make trips that trolley cars made in 25 minutes or less 50 years ago. And this is what is constantly referred to as a "Century of Progress." ' . Stan ley, 55, state highway depart ment bridge designer and mem ber of the Salem Planning and Zoning commission, died in his car here Friday night. Police said he apparently had sufered a heart attack. Stanley had attended a ban quet of the Professional Engin eers of Oregon and was driving home when the attack occurred. Stanley was in charge of the preliminary layout section of the highway department bridge division. He was a member of the Oregon State Board of En gineering Examiners. A gradu ate of Oregon State college, he had been with the highway de partment for 25 years. The organizer of the first U.S. balloon corps was Thaddeus S. C. Lowe, who served the Union forces during the Civil War. Sunday, April 21, 1957 MEDFORD (OREGON) MAIL TRIBUNE THREE County Officials Visit in Klamath Members of the Jackson county court, County Engineer Paul Rynning, Road Supervisor Bill Watenburg and a Columbia Equipment company representa tive spent Thursday in Klam ath Falls. During the day they watched two demonstrations of a road side ditch clearing machine, visited the Klamath county farm and juvenile detention home and met with the Klamath county court. The Klamath county court asked advice of the Jackson county court concerning appro priations for porcupine control bounty. The Jackson countv group made comparisons be tween the Klamath county farm and the one here, and compared the juvenile detention home with the one under construc tion here. They observed that Klamath county's problem of juvenile de linquency involves more girls than boys, the opposite of the situation here. Plans are under way for a new detention home The group left Medford at 8 a.m. Thursday and returned at 7 p.m. Hermiston (U.R Voters of the Hermiston school district Thursday rejected 510-407 a $100,000 bond issue for, a 20r room elementary school and ad ditions to existing facilities. Magazine Writer Stops By Crater Lake Park A Readers Digest staff writer toured Crater Lake National park two days last week in con nection' with an article on na tional parks, according to Tom Williams, park superintendent. Seaton, who recently underwent an operation for an old back injury, returned home from Walter Reed Army hospital Friday night. Seaton entered the hospital March 7.
