In addition to the applications for retirement and survivors benefits, the Medford office for warded 63 applications for dis ability payments during the same period. The applications came from disabled persons 50 years of age or over who have had at least five years work un der the social security program within the 10-year period prior to the date they became dis abled. Nusbaum urged disabled per sons who have worked under social security for at least five years, and whose disability is expected to continue indefinite ly, to contact the Medford office prior to June 30. Applications taken after that date can be made retroactive fpr only a lim ited period with the result that some otherwise eligible persons may lose their entitlement to a "freeze" of their earnings rec ord, if under age 50, or benefit payments if 50 or over.
