Name Changed The O. Gee Motel, 3250 North Pacific high way, Medford, has been sold by Arthur F. and Mildred L. Schmock to Carl J. and Hildred E. Whitmore. The motel is now named the Valley Motel, accord ing to records in the county clerk's office. Items Needed The Jackson county chapter of the American Red Cross has reported an im mediate need for baby buggies, cribs, bassinets, blankets, cloth ing and other items used in care for babies. Kelso Worker Crushed By Huge Falling Rock Kelso. Wash. '(U.R) A Kelso man was crushed to death yes terday by a huge rock at the Swift Creek dam site. .. Raymond Azure, 30, was working eight feet from the bottom of a 28-foot deep hole when fellow workers warned him that a rock was coming loose, Cowlitz county sheriff of ficers said. Azure jumped and landed at the bottom of the hole but not fast enough to avoid the falling rock. Vale Men Studying Flood Suit Possibility Vale (U.R) Several business men here have retained a law firm with regard to possibility ot suing the state of Oregon for losses caused by the Vale flood, a week ago Sunday. They are awaiting report from a group of hydraulic engineers who are making a survey ot the p;;rt ot cement bridge over the Malheur river near Vale played in the flood. The businessmen contend that the bridge was too low and caused obstruction of the river during the flood. Churchmen Write New Testament in Longhand La Salle, 111. (U.R) Some 100 La Salle, 111., churchmen have begun the laborious job of writ ing out the New Testament in longhand as a Lenten duty. The writers, members of the Trinity Evangelical and Reform ed Church, began the project Wednesday under the direction of their pastor, Rev. Kleffman. Central Phone 3-5308 Thursday, March 7, 1957 Remodeling Slated For Completion Soon Remodeling of the Barneburg and Andrews building, Sixth and Front sts., Medford, will be com pleted early in May, according to D'Anjou Properties Inc., own ers of the building. Space in the building is being remodeled for four ground floor locations, incorporators said. Van Dyke and Dellenback, Medford law firm, and Jack Edson, Med ford architect, have acquired of fice space in portions of the building now being remodeled. They will move into the new offices sometime in Mav, it was reported. Negotiations are now underway for another ground floor occupancy in the building, it was reported. California Man Hurt In Possible Seizure Richard Montanez, 24, of San Francisco, was released from Rogue Valley hospital last night after treatment for injuries suf fered in a possible epileptic seizure suffered at the intersec tion of Highways 99 and 62 Wednesday afternoon. State police said they were notified at 2:30 p.m. that a man was lying on the highway inter section and appeared to be in jured. Officers said Montanez received head and arm cuts dur ing the seizure. Republican and Democratic legislators quickly chose sides as the three day hearings began yesterday in Sen. Clinton P. An derson's irrigation and reclama tion sub-committee. Sens. Wayne Morse (D-Ore.) and Henry Dworshak (R-Ida.) were the first to square off. "In public test after public test, the free men and women of the region have voted for the high (Hells Canyon) dam," Morse said. He criticized the Eisen hower administration for sup porting the Bruces Eddy dam in stead of Hells Canyon and said this was a "desperate attempt" to compensate for the greater benefits of the upper Snake river project. Dworshak interrupted and said he "resented" the Oregon sena tor's "inference" that Bruces Eddy was "merely an alterna tive" to Hells Canyon. Openings Available For Weight Reducing The Oregon Heart association announced today there still are vacancies in the weight reduc tion classes, which are slated to start soon. Those interested can enroll in the classes by contacting their physician, association members reported. There is no charge for the classes since the project is un derwritten as a public health measure by the OHA, according to members. The classes were started for the first time last year. Dallas, Ore. Lewis Men Lodged in Jail Here A vehicle reported stolen from Eugene yesterday was recovered in Medford at 13th st. and South Central 'ave., by state police last night and three Ft. Lewis. Wash., men were lodged in the Jackson county jail pending action by officers in Eugene. The men were identified as Robert Joe Hulbert, 22, Travis Hugh Rietgorf, 23. and Joe Hensley, 21, all of Ft. Lewis. Ac cording to police, the car was observed traveling in the wrong direction on Central ave. Inves tigation revealed the car was the same one reported stolen in Eugene.
