The women were seated near the fire place in the new Crest room of the club. Dec orations for the party were in the valentine theme and the branches on the wall hold min iature hats, red paper hearts and arrows. The party raised funds for a nursing scholarship which the sorority will award to a Medford High school girl graduating this spring. Luncheon Honors Medford Women Mrs. T. P. Barss and Mrs. An drew Bulkley were honored at a luncheon Hd shower given Thursday at the home of Mrs Elliott Harlow, 301 Ardmore avenue. Hostesses were Mrs. Harlow, Mrs. William Miller and Mrs. Thomas Bolton. Decorations were in the com bination stork and valentine theme, with red roses and white narcissi centerflg the luncheon tables. Y., and Jonathan Butler of New York will arrive in Medford to day from the east for a brief stay.- They will be guests of Mrs. Simmons' parents. Mr. and Mrs. Robert W. Ruhl, 2404 East Main street. M(. Butler is of the New York firm of architects, Rogers and Butler, which drew plans for the new . RogucO Valley Memorial hospital now under construction. First Spring Style Show Given by Sorority Chapter More than 200 women gathered at Rogue Valley Country club last Monday for the first spring fashion show of the season. It was given by Alpha Rho chapter of Beta Sigma Phi sorority, and the money will be used for the chapter's nursing scholarship fund. The models, members of the chapter and their children, stag ed the show during the lunch eon hour. Cards followed, with prizes awarded at each table. Mrs. Lawrence Allen, president of the chapter, welcomed the guests at the beginning of the show. Mrs. James Tengesdal open- the show modeling a peignoir and she was followed by little Shannon Mclntyre and Jeffry Werner, with Shannon wearing a pink and white cotton party frock and Jeffry a cotton sateen Ivy league suit. Mrs. Dan Kidd and Mrs. Bob Norris appeared together wear ing play clothes, and Mrs. Rich ard Riggs modeled a swim suit. Mrs. David Legg and small daughter, Carla, modeled match ing mother and daughter dresses of spring blue cotton, and Mrs. at earn hart's Match the Mood for Spring! 'SUITS In our collection of new Spring Arrivals ... Davidow 1wncliffe Gilbert- Adele of California Exclusively etc . . William Werner modeled a knit sheath and gold tone tweed, a Don Loper original. Mrs. Ray M. Mortqri appeared first in a blue and white silk faille by Sari worn with saucer hat with single white rose on top, and Mrs. William Singler wore a Madison original skirt and blouse, one of the four-in-one combinations. Miss Jan Barker modeled a Johnston of Dallas frock with a very full skirt unbuttoned down the back to show a ruffled polka dot undershirt. j Three little girls in full pale blue ensembles created a stir among the guests. They were Kathy. Janet and Susie Sullivan, daughters of Mr. and Mrs. James Sullivan. Mrs. Robert Mclntyre modeled a read and white Lanz original frock with tucked bo dice and unpressed pleats, and unpressed pleats, and Mrs. Wayne Giles appeared wearing a beige silk frock with detach able tweed cape, capes being a 1957 outstanding fashion note. Little Joanne Morton and David Henselman appeared as a twosome, with Joanne wearing a pink cotton frock with little white hat and David a checked coat and short navy blue trou sers. Mrs. Donald Lue modeled a beige checked washable silk dress with orlon sweater lined with the silk, and Cherri Paul azzo, a daughter of Mrs. Darlene Paulazzo, modeled a black sleeveless cotton pique with striped jacket. Mrs. Harry Bark er wore a Pilgrim grey ensemble with white straw chicordi hat, and Mrs. Ray True modeled a pure silk print in Navy blue. Mrs. Gretchen Wade, a guest model, wore a tailored blue suit with short jacket. Mrs. James Chapman modeled a din ner gown of nylon organdy with enormous skirt and midriff draper of turquoise chiffon. A black lace and net gown was worn by Miss Shirley Bowlin to close the parade of models. Clothing for the show was was provided by Burelson's, Jean Hart, Buster Brown, Big Y Tot shop and Rath's. Mrs. Wil liam Tyce and Mrs. Richard Henselman were commentators. Music was provided by John Lusk and Mrs. Paul Dix. Dinner Announced By SAR Chapter Southern Oregon chapter, Sons of the-American Revolution, will hold the annual meeting at 6:30 p m. Friday, February 22, at Holtel Medford. This dinner meeting is open to all SAR mem bers and their ladies. Feature of the evening will be a talk by Dr. Arthur S. Tay lor, a member of the faculty of Southern Oregon College. Plans Announced For Heart Sunday Heart Sunday drive will be held Sunday, February 24, from 1 until 3 p.m. according to Mrs. Manville Heisel, Heart Sunday chairman. Organizations participating in the drive are the Alpha - Phi sorority and the American aux iliary. Support of the Heart drive is a national project of Alpha Phi. Area captains have been an nounced by Mrs. Heisel and in clude Mrs. Leland Clark, Mrs. Thomas Reames. Couple Honored At Open House In Shady Cove Shady Cove Mr. and Mrs. Ted Jantzer of Shady Cove were honored at an open house Satur day evening, February 9, by Mrs. Harry Goode and Mrs. Donald Harmon. The open house was held at Jantzers' new home on Rogue River drive. The Jantzers, who moved there shortly before Christmas, were presented planters for the playroom as a gift. Dancing was held during the evening and refreshments were served. Final Plans Completed For Party Final plans will be made this week for the large benefit card party which will be given at Camp White Saturday, February 23, to raise money for the Heart fund. Sponsors are three clubs. Camp White, Medford and River side Duplicate Bridge clubs. The party will be held in Building 218 at Camp -White Don Reverman, chairman, states that the security guard at the camp entrance will direct cars to the building, and that park ing attendants will be on hand to aid those attending the party. The committee states that all types of card games will be available. Master points will be awarded to winners in the dup licate bridge games. Mr. Reverman is being assist ed by Mrs. W. W. Stevenson of Medford, Duplicate Bridge club, Roy Pruitt of Riverside club and E. K. Ricker of the Camp White Veterans' Bridge club. Mrs. Jack Mitchell, telephone 2-4900, is chairman of ticket sales. The party at Camp White will be one of a series held through out the nation under the spon sorship of the American Con tract Bridge league. Lodge to Meet , Olive Rebekah lodge will meet Monday, February 18, at 8 p.m. at the Odd Fellows hall. Hostess es for the evening will be Mrs. Frank Chapman, Mrs. L. J. Amer, Mrs. Nina Chandler, and Miss Caroline Leadus. Guild Seeks Soloists Entries may still be submitted to the Philharmonic Society guild by any female vocal solo ist who wishes to audition for the spring concert of the Sym phony orchestra of the Philhar monic Society of Southern Ore gon. . '. Entries may be mailed to the Philharmonic Society guild, 516 North Berkeley Way, Medford, not later than February 26 for the Thursday, February 28, audtition. They will be held in the cafetorium of Hedrick Jun ior High school at 8 p.m. Each entrant should give her name, address, telephone num ber and type of voice. The entry should also include the name of the - aria from an oratorio, opera or light opera that she in tends to sing. Three additional songs to sing at the concert with piano accompaniment should be selected with one of these to be sung at the try-out in addition to her aria. The soloist may bring her own accompanist or be accompanied by Bruno Pellegrini, who will be available. The spring concert will be given Sunday, March 31 during the afternoon. Sorority to Aid Heart Fund Drive Alpha Phi Alumnae club will hold a white elephant sale at the monthly meeting set for Thursday, February 21, at the home of Mrs. William Duhaime, 3464 Forest avenue. The pro ceeds, will be donated to the sorority's national philanthropic project which is support of the Heart Fund. Mrs. Manville Heisel, chair-, man of the local Heart fund drive, will attend and tell of plans for the drive. Members will receive assignment for their part in the Heart Sunday cam paign February 24. Gladamson Unit Plans Meeting at Proctors Gladamson unit of Wesleyan Service guild will meet Tuesday, February 19; at the home of Mrs. G. C. Proctor, 2540 Jacksonville highway. Dessert will be served at 7:30 p.m. Mrs. Proctor will give the de votions and Mrs. Alva Perkins will give the first of several chapters in the study book, "The Church in Southeast Africa." Luncheon Meeting Planned for Club Reames Social club will hold the monthly luncheon Wednes day, Feb. 20 at Masonic hall at 12 o'clock noon. Mrs. R. E. Randolph will b luncheon chairman. Cards will follow a business meeting. The new Reames Secial club cook books will be available at this meeting. Supper Announced By Crater Club Crater Garden club will hold a potluck supper for their hus bands Tuesday, February 19, at 7 p.m. at the Willow Spring school house. Roll call will be answered by naming a local wild flower. In dia is the country of the month and the lotus flower will be re ported on by Mrs. Arthur Straus. Wild flower slides will be shown during the evening by Charles Taylor.
