"When that's been done, ex perts can examine them and de cide whether they are genuine Holbeins," he said today. And, he added, the Louvre also has some mis-identified paintings hanging on its walls. More Than 400 Years Old The Holbein paintings Koet ser questions are portraits of William Warham, archbishop of Canterbury and adviser to Eng land's King Henry VII, and Sir Nicholas Carew, keeper of the King's horse. Both paintings are more than 400 years old. Koetser said he doubted if either painting was a deliberate forgery. He said both probably were painted by followers of Holbein, who died in 1543.
