The bride's parents are Mr., and Mrs. Frank J. Runtz, formerly of Medford and now of Escondido, Calif., and Jhe bridegroom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. L. B. Pierce, 516 West J$kson stnet. Dr. Raymond Balcomb offi- dated for the single-ring serv ice, held at eight o'clock in the ehing, and Mr. Runtz gave his daughter in marriage. Bouquets of white and yellow snapdragons and yellow acacia against a background of wood wardia decorated the church. Spiral candelabra hesd lighted tapers. Mrs. Gerald Sherman was at the organ. For her wedding the bride wore a gown of white satin de signed princess style with wide ruffle of tulle at the bottom of the skirt. Her fingertip length veil held by a small pill box hat, and she carried a white atin and lace fan with white anthurium. Mrs. Blair Crosby was the bride's only attendant. She wore a frock of pale aquamarine taf feta, ballerina length, and de signed to match the bride's gown.She carried yellow lace fan with yellow carnations, and a small flowered hat matching heCdress. O The bride's wedding gown was first worn by her attend ee, the form Janet Walton. for her wedding two years ago. Mrs. Runtz wore a lace dress of dusty rose color with match ing rose beige shoes and hat for her daughter's wedding. Her corsage was an orchid. The bridegroom's mother wore a chiffon dress of Dior blue with matching accessories and orchid corsage. Jack E. Ragsdale was best msn for the bridegroom, and ushers were Crocker Hunter Jr., Elair D. Crosby and Thomas Furnas. The reception was held in the church, with 100 guests attend ing. Mrs. William Herman Jr., and Mrs. Crocker Hunter Jr., cut the wedding cake. Coffee was poured by Mrs. Vernon Thorpe, and Miss Marjorie Sand fcrt served punch. Mrs. William Berthold Barnum Jr., took charge of the guest book. Mr. and Mrs. Smith made a wedding trip to California and are now living in Medford. For traveling the bride wore a beige suit with winter yellow coat and alligator purse and shoes. The bride attended Oregon State college after graduation from Medford High school and is a secretary for Dr. James C. Luce. Mr. Smith attended Med ford High school and the Uni versity of Oregon and is with Crater Lake Machiney company. Mrs. Carl Ellis Arrives in Japan Mrs. Carl Ellis, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Wick, Sun set drive, arrived in Japan Jan- ! uary 22 with her nine-months old daughter. Guild toHoTd Valentine Party Members of St. Catherine's guild of St. Mark's Episcopal church will have their husbands as guests for a valentine buffet supper Monday, February 11. The party will be held in the church guild hall beginning at 7 p.m. Mrs. Walter T. Tomlin is gen eral chairman, and Mrs. C. H. Barrell is in charge of refresh ments. The decorations will be planned by Mrs. Kenneth John son, and Mrs. Ralph Cutshall will take charge of entertain ment. Mrs. Ralph B. Matthews will head the hospitality committee. It is set for Satur day, February 23, at 8 p.m. at Camp White. These benefit parties are giv en throughout the United States under the sponsorship of the A m e r i c an Contract Bridge League. In the past they have aided crippled children and the blind, and for the past two years the funds raised have gone to the Heart drive. Don Reverman has been nam ed general chairman, and co chairmen are Mrs. W. W. Stev enson of Medford Duplicate Bridge club, Roy Pruitt of Riv erside Bridge club and E. K. Ricker of Camp White Veteran's Bridge club. Mrs. Jack Mitchell, telephone 2-4900, is chairman of ticket sales. Mrs. B. L. Sanderson is publicity chairman and Mrs. Roy Pruitt is arranging prizes. (Brainerd photos) Reames Chapter To Honor Member Reames chapter, Order of Eastern Star, will honor Mrs. John Esp at a reception to be held Thursday, February 14, at 8 p.m. in Medford Masonic hall. Mrs. Esp, a past matron of the chapter, is a member of the en dowment committee of the grand chapter of Oregon. The 1957 ball will be held Saturday, February 16 in the Pioneer room of the Jackson hotel, with danc ing from 9 p.m. till 1 a.m. Each Beta Sigma Phi chapter of the city has chosen a val entine queen candidate, one of whom will be chosen and crown ed while the others act as prin cesses. Chapter representatives University Band Coming Willamette university band will give a public band concert Wednesday, February 13, at the Hedrick Junior High school starting at 8 p.m. The 50-piece band will pre sent a program ranging from classical to popular music which will include such selections as '.'Ballet for Young Americans," "My Fair Lady," music, "Choral and Fugue in G Minor," "Rhap sody in Blue," and "London derry Air." This is the first time in eight years that the band has played to southern Oregon and north ern California audiences. The tour, which will be more than 600 miles, will enable the band to play for audiences in 12 cities during, a five day period. Maurice Brennan is director of the band. Thompsons Return From Trip South Mr. and Mrs. Roy Thompson, Route 2, Box 381, Medford, re turned Wednesday from a seven weeks trip that took them throughout the Southwest and Mexico. The Thompsons, who left Med ford, December 17, visited rela tives m the Southwest before en tering Mexico at Laredo, Texas. After several weeks in Mexico City they returned by the way of Nogales, Ariz., and California where they visited other rela tives. Valentine Dance Planned by Club Lively Rogue Dancing club members and guests will attend a valentine dance, Thursday, February 14, at the Rogue Val ley County club. It is set for 7:30 p.m. Mr. and Mrs.- William E Frake, Mr. and Mrs. R. E. March, and Mr. and Mrs. Ernst Ruegger will be host couples for the dinner and dance. The Woods, who arrived Thursday from Los Angeles, have been spending the winter visiting relatives and friends in the southern Califor nia area.
