FBI Arrests Fugitive At Hotel in Memphis Memphis, Tenn. The FBI' early today arrested fugitive gun man Alfred James White, photo genic newcomer to the FBI "most wanted list," at a small hotel where he was living under ai assumed name. The 53-year-old, "distinguished looking" fugitive had been in tensively sought since he fired on police in West Hamlin, W. Va., June 7, 1954. Special Agent C. Z. Piper, in charge of the Memphis FBI of fice, said two Memphis citizens recognized White from pictures on posters circulated since White was placed on the FBI's "10 most wanted" list 10 days ago. .Piper said White, with a rec ord of convictions for larceny, auto theft, robbery and parole violation, was unarmed and put up no resistance when he was arrested. Doctor To Stand Trial in England Eastbourne, England (U.R) Dr. John Bodkin Adams, 58, was ordered today to stand trial for the murder of one of his wealthy widow patients. A bench of five magistrates ordered the family physician to trial for the murder of Mrs. Edith Alice Morrell, 81, after nine days of evidence at a pre liminary hearing. The prosecution had demanded that he stand triaL for Mrs. Mor rell's death on Nov. 13, 1953. The defense had asked that ei ther he be freed or tried on a lesser charge on criminal negli gence. The crown has charged that Dr. Adams systematically con verted Mrs. Morrell into a nar cotics addict and then gave fatal doses in the last two weeks of her life. It said he was moti vated by a desire to inherit items left to him in her will. Copco Gets Extension On Big Bend Project Washington (U.R) California Oregon Power company . was given an extension of time yes terday by the Federal Power Commission to decide whether it wants to accept a license for construction of its proposed Big Bend No. 2 power project. The license for the project was granted in 1954 but has never been accepted by the company. The firm now proposes to consol idate the project with its Big Bend No.l proposal. The commission granted the company 30 days after the com mission rules on the consolida tion proposal in which to decide whether to accept the license. The two projects are located in Klamath county and would cost about $12,400,000. . 1 1 Ji V j TROUBLE ON TROUBLE Katalin, 10, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jeno Zag, Hungar ian refugee who arrived in Milwaukee, was found to need heart surgery to cor rect a congenital defect.
