Memphis, Tenn. The FBI'

hotel where he was living under
ai assumed name.
The 53-year-old, "distinguished
looking" fugitive had been in
tensively sought since he fired
on police in West Hamlin, W.
Va., June 7, 1954.
Special Agent C. Z. Piper, in

Doctor To Stand
Trial in England
Eastbourne, England (U.R)
Dr. John Bodkin Adams, 58, was
ordered today to stand trial for
the murder of one of his wealthy
widow patients.
A bench of five magistrates
ordered the family physician to
trial for the murder of Mrs.
Edith Alice Morrell, 81, after
nine days of evidence at a pre
liminary hearing.
The prosecution had demanded
that he stand triaL for Mrs. Mor
rell's death on Nov. 13, 1953.
The defense had asked that ei
ther he be freed or tried on a
lesser charge on criminal negli
gence. The crown has charged that
Dr. Adams systematically con
verted Mrs. Morrell into a nar
cotics addict and then gave fatal
doses in the last two weeks of
her life. It said he was moti
vated by a desire to inherit items
left to him in her will.
