The Monterey will cruise through the South Sea islands, stopping at several ports and continue on to New Zealand and to Australia. However, the Medford group will disembark in New Zealand and tour that island, re-embarking when the ship returns. December 30. for the 2:30 o'clock afternoon wedding of .Miss Darla Jean Walker and Robert Gary Brown. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Walker. 728 West Second street, Medford. The bridegroom is a son of Mrs. George Kurz, Central Point. The Rev. Lyman D. Stiles offi ciated at the double ring cere mong attended by 60 friends and relatives. The bride wore a salmon col ored suit with white accessor ies and carried a white Bible with two white orchids encir cled by stephanotis. She was giv en in marriage by her father. Mrs. Kent Bayne was honor attendant and Miss Karen Camp bell was bridesmaid. Mrs. Bayne chose a light purple colored suit with white accessories. Miss Campbell wore a white suit with white accessories. They both car ried bouquets of pink and white carnations. Clayton Brown served as best man for his brother. Kenneth Walker Jr., brother of the bride, seated the guests. Mrs. Fredena Day was soloist. Following the wedding a re ception was held in the church annex. For her daughter's wedding Mrs. Walker wore a light blue, dress and hat with white acces sories. Mrs. Kurz chose a light beige dress with dark beige ac cessories, and they both wore pink carnation corsages. The bride attended Medford HUh school. Order of Amaranth, has announced that the court would sponsor its sixth annual smorgasbord in the Masonic temple on Sunday, January 27. Serving hours will be from noon until 4 p.m. This event has grown to be one of the most popular func tions held in the temple, with almost 700 persons being served last year. It is the chief means of raising the funds that the court needs to carry on it's var-1 ious activities. Over 75 per cent of the mem bers are working on the prepara tion and serving committees under the general chairmanship of Mrs. Vernon Turpin, associate matron. Medford Students Head Committees Eugene Named as committee co-chairmen for Dads' Weekend were Miss Mira Frohnmayer and Michael DeVore, both of Med ford. Miss Frohnmayer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Otto J. Frohn mayer, 1656 Spring street, was selected as co-chairman of the ticket sales committee and De Vore, son of Mr. and Mrs. R. Ronald DeVore, 806 East Jack son street, will serve as co-chairman of the special events com mittee. Creek schools and is employed by Medford Ice and Storage company. (Cal-Pictures) Italian to Sing For Civic Music Cesare Valletti, lyric tenor, will present the next concert for Jackson County Civic Music as sociation. It is set for Tuesday, January 29. at 8 p.m. in the au ditorium of Medford Senior High school. Valletti, an Italian, made his debut at the Metropolitan Opera company in the fall of 1953 aft er establishnig himself as a star at La Scala in his native coun try. Born in Rome, Valletti has divided his time since his Amer ican debut between the Met and La Scala. Each fall he comes to the United States for the first months of the Metropolitan sea son, and then returns to Milan for the last weeks of the season in that city. ? f Mr. and Mrs. Bert B. Lowry returned to their home on Fern Valley road last week after a vacation in Arizona and southern California. The Lowryi left before Christmas and spent the holidays at Camelback Inn on the desert near, Phoenix. Christmas eve Camelback Inn staged the annual Snowball party and for this event the inn's albino burro mascot dons antlers and gift-laden saddle bags and doubles for Santa's reindeer. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Simington of Selma, Attending the couple at their wedding in Eugene were Mrs. Lloyd Smith, Mrs. Clyde Knight and Miss Clydus Knight. The bride was an Illinois Val ley Jubilee princess last Septem ber. She is a sophomore at the Illinois Valley High school. Mr. Simington is an outstanding ath lete at the high school, being a member of the football, basket ball and baseball teams. Recent Ceremony Weds Pair Mr. and Mrs. William Carl Caldwell, whose wedding was an event of December 24 in Forest Grove, Ore., are living at 2015 Main street in that city. The bride is the former Dolores Arlene Baize, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. O. A. Mosley, Seattle, Wash., and the bridegroom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Cald well, Eagle Point. The bride groom is a physical education major at Pacific university in Forest Grove. ' The ceremony took place in First Congregational church, Forest Grove, with the Rev. Vin cent Crane officiating for the. double-ring afternoon rites. Only immediate family members at tended. The bride wore a wedding qown of white satin and French lace in princess style designed and made by herself and her mother. Scallops of the lace, with seed pearls and sequins, ac cented the front of the skirt. Her veil of illusion was held by a tiara of sequins and pearls and she . carried a white Bible with red poinscttias. Miss Sandra Caldwell, sister of the bridegroom, was honor attendant. She wore a ballerina length frock of pale yellow taf feta and tulle and carried red poinsettias. Don Papke was best man for the bridegroom, a college friend, and Mr. Mosley gave his step daughter in marriage. The bride's mother wore a rust colored velveteen coat dress over a peach-colored frock with matching rust colored shoes and hat. Her corsage was a white orchid. The bridegroom's mother wore a blue taffeta dress with matching shoes and hat and a corsage of white rosebuds and carnations. The church was decorated with matching shoes and hat and a corsage of while rosebuds and carnations. The church was decorated with white boughs adorned with turquoise colored pine cones and ribbons, and white poin settias. A reception followed the ceremony. The newlyweds spent a honey moon on the Oregon coast, the bride wearing a white faille coat dress with red accessories. The bride attended Eagle Point High school and has been em ployed by Sawyers, Inc. The bridegroom also was graduated from Eagle Point High school before enrolling at Pacific uni versity. Both young people are from well known Jackson county families. The bride's grandmoth er is Mrs. Nettie. Ellenburg, 119 North Central avenue. SWEATERS REDUCED ALL SALES FINAL Medford Woman Is Endorsed For State PTA Office Miss Judy Farrar, Rogue Ri ver, a freshman at Southern Oregon college, spoke Wednes day at a meeting of Jackson County Council of Parent Teacher associations. Miss Fan-ar, a PTA tuition scholarship student, was intro duced by her mother, Mrs. W. A. Farrar, and told the group about her experiences at SOC. The council passed a motion that the name of Mrs. Leigh Gustison of Medford be submit ted to the nominating commit tee of the Oregon Congress of Parents and Teachers for con sideration as a nominee for the office of first vice president of the Congress. She is a member of the state board and has been active in county PTA work for several years. Mrs. Farrar, Mrs. C. F. Conley of Ashland and Mrs. Gustison were elected to the council nom inating committee. Mrs. Clifford Cordy, Central Point, and Mrs. Dale Ackerman were elected alternates. Elections will be held at the regular meeting March 2 at Cen tral Point. Workshops on Founder's day programming, family life discus sion groups, film projector op eration, and historian and. pub licity chairmanships were con ducted during the morning. Luncheon was served by the Ashland city council and a triple trio of musicians from the Ash land school system entertained. Announcement was made of the family discussion scheduled (Sunday) this afternoon on the regular Jackson County Public Health association television show. Committee Heads Appointed For Republican Club Mrs. Wayne Stine, newly elected president of the organ ization, conducted the first 1957 executive committee meeting of Jackson County Republican Wo men Thursday at the home of Mrs. Robert Keency, Colver road. Committees appointed include Mrs. Billy Blackstone, member ship and hospitality; Mrs. C. B. Frances, Mrs. Kceney, Mrs. Frank Bash and Mrs. Lester Adams, program; Mrs. Frank E. Ross, finance; Mrs. Howard Arant, telephone; Mrs. Thomas Ness, librarian, and Mrs. Marina Gates, publicity. Mrs. Bash quoted from a new book, "A Republican Looks At His Party," by Arthur Larson, in which he stated, "It is the genius of the Eisenhower admin istration's achievement that it has merged and brought into balance all the positive forces in our country." A discussion of the objectives and accomplish ments of the Republican wo men's group followed her report. He wns trapped in Budapest this winter when the city was burned and blasted during the recent Hun garian rebellion. Luckily the brilliant Warsaw born artist made his way to safety. He continued his Euro pean tour and went on to per form 22 concerts in Indonesia. Szeryng (pronounced Shear ing) will play Brahm's famous "Concerto for Violin" in his American debut with the Port land, orchestra. The orchestra, under the baton of Theodore Bloomfield, will also perform Beethoven's overture to "Fide lio" and "Symphony No. 1 In E Minor" by Sibelius.
