Otto Burgess, 1250 Vista drive, have announced the engagement of their daughter, Muriel Yvonne, to Vernon Carr Bald win, formerly of Shadv Cove. He is the son of Mrs. Ralph Lane, King City, Calif., and Donald S. Baldwin Sr., Okinawa. A February wedding is planned. Both young people attended Eagle Point High school, and Mr. Baldwin was graduated from that school in 1953. Miss Burgess is a graduate of Milo academy with the class of 1956. Mr. Bald win is . stationed at Quonset Point, Rhode Island, with the United States Navy. Lieutenant Here On Holiday Leave -. Justin M. Smith is spending Christmas leave with his par ents. (Landis-Shangle photo ) Held Friday bridge club had decorated the church .with wild juniper and white chrysanthemums. For the reception Mrs. Dwight H. Findley greeted guests at the door, assisted by Miss Mira Frohnmayer and Miss Diana Gretchell, cutting the cake were Mrs. Henry Busch, Upland, aunt of the bride, and Mrs. Kenneth Denman. Pouring were Mrs. E. B. Kirkwood and Mrs. George H. McAllister, aunts of the bride from Gresham, Ore., and assist ing were Mrs. Raymond Miksche, Mrs. Edwin R. Durno. Mrs. Ches ter Hubbard and Mrs. Richard Gordon. Mrs. Bayard Getchell cut the bridegroom's cake. For the wedding and reception the bride's mother wore a gown of Dior blue satin and crepe with matching shoes and white satin bat and purse. Her corsage was a white orchid. The bridegroom's mother wore a gown of champagne colored tulle and satin with matching accessories and brown-gold or chid. Mr. Miller and his bride are spending a honymoon on the Oregon coast and will live at 970 Paradise way, Palo Alto. Calif., where both are seniors at Standford university. For traveling the bride wore a beige suit with fur collar, black coat and matching accessories. Next fall the bridegroom plans to enter the University of Penn slyvania Medical school in Penn sylvania. 4 Luncheon Honors New County Agent The County Extension commit tee honored Miss Mary Pat Lucy I last week with a luncheon held at the home of Mrs. Rollin Jones, 208 Hamilton street, Medford. Members present were Mrs. Glen Hale, Eagle Point; Mrs. Ted Fredenburg, Butte Falls: Mrs. M. P. O'Karra, Ashland; Mrs. C. A. Willson, Trail and Mrs. Dora Krouse, Applegate. Also attend ing was Mrs. Lena Roseberry from Berkeley, Calif., mother of Mrs. Jones who is visiting here for the holidays. Miss Lucy came here recently from Dickinson, N.D., to serve as county home demonstration agent. Father Here Clarence Starcher. Today Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hopewell and Mr. and Mrs. James Shaw have invited guests to Rogue Valley Country club for "punch and brunch". Hon ored will be Mr. Hopewell's brother, Harry C. Hopewell, of Wolfeboro, N. H., who is a guest here, and Mrs. Shaw's brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. William H. Steiwer Jr., Fossil, Ore. About 160 guests have been invited to the party, to be held between 12:30 and 2 o'clock. Last Sunday afternoon Mr. and Mrs. George Schuler, 33 Valley View drive, were hosts for a holiday open house. Dec orations were in the Christmas theme. About 80 guests called. Mr. Schuler's brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Wil liam Schuler, will arrive today from Arcadia, Calif., to spend Christmas with the Medford family. Dr. and Mrs. Thomas H. Em mens and Dr. and Mrs. Ralph Thompsen have planned a holi day party at the Emmens' home, 6 Modoc avenue, for a large group of friends. The Emmens' holiday decora tions include colored lights for a tall tree in their large garden, and an artistic door ornament featuring three choir boys. The door ornament is the work of Mrs. Fred Ryde. Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Collins and her daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Collins were hostess es for a small holiday tea last Wednesday. Guests were invited to the latter's home on Glenn Oak court for the event. Pour ing were Miss Helen Bullis and Mrs. Fred T. Burich. Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Miller Jr., 411 Oakwood drive, have plan ned a small open house for Sun day, December 30. This holiday event is one of a series of parties being given by the Millers this winter. Spring Ceremony Planned by Couple Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bous- sum, 720 Welch street, Medford announce the engagement of their niece, Miss Alice Meyer, to John Grimes, 227 Cottage street, Medford, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Grimes, Little Rock, Ark. Miss Meyer is a graduate of Medford High school and attend ed Southern Oregon college. Mr. Grimes was graduated from Batesville, Ark., High school and attended Arkansas college. Prior to being employed at Fir Ply, Camp White, he served with the United States Navy. The wedding date has been set for April. Miss Alice Meyer Medford Student On Annual Staff Miss Sylvia Teeter, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. K. B. Teeter, 1202 East Main street, Medford, is a member of the staff of Oak Leaves, yearbook at Linfield college, McMinnville, now busy on the 1957 publication. Miss Teeter is a copywriter. More and larger pictures will be contained in this year's book. Cover and sectional divisions were completed during the sum mer.
