Their par ents were killed, along with sev en ethers, when the 19-year-old car in which they were riding aia?hed into the ?ide of a South ern Pacific streamliner. Mil waukee, have volunteered to col lect money to help the children. ir Force Abandons Search for Jet Plane Cleveland U.R The Air Force Monday night abandoned its search for a T33 jet trainer, missing since Dec. 8 with two men aboard. Missing was " the pilot, Lt. O Frederick A. Davis III of North forJf, Conn., and a passenger, c -Airman. 2C F.oger E. Watkins (jpf Reeds Ferry, N.H., who was hitching a ride home from Sioux Falls, S.D. C Some -62 Civil Air Patrol planes, joined by Navy air re serve planes from Akron, Ohio, joined in-the search along Lake Erie's south shors and northern Indiana ? She was separated from her musician husband some time ago. she told Policewoman Alma Taylor. She left Victor, 5, San dra. 3, and James, three months, on a bench in New York's bustling Grand Central Terminal last Friday. Faced Bleak Christmas Mrs. Pierce said she would ratiier lose her children than face the prospect of a bleak Christmas morning,, possibly without lights and electricity, in her relief project apartment at Waterbury, Conn. Victor had pleaded for a pair of roller skates for Christmas. Little Sandra "was expecting a red wagon" from Santa. But she was unable to buy the presents with the S20 meal ticket she received from the city each week. Mrs. Pierce, grey-eyed, and dressed in slacks, a sweater and a tweed coat, said the city paid her rent in the relief project and had also promised to pay her electric bill, which was six months past due. But she said the bill was not yet paid and the power company threatened to turn off her electricity "any day." Seeks Her Brother She could have got a S35 a week job as a waitress, she said, but it would have cost S15 a week to have the children cared for while she worked. Mrs. Pierce went to the Jack sonville Traveler's Aid Bureau to seek help in locationg a broth er she believed was stationed af Eglin Air Force Base in north west Florida. The bureau found through a routine check that Mrs. Pierce was wanted for child abandonment in New York. The children were found by station officials and turned over to New York police. They are being cared for by the city. Mrs. Pierce said she would waive extradition. A policewom an from New York was being sent to return her there. O Tom Pigott Named To Portland Housing Group Portland '.U.P.l Tom Pigott, director of the Oregon School Activities Association, yesterday was appointed to the Portland Housing Authority. Pigott will take the scat of Commissioner Jane Rasmussen, only woman member of the housing board, who has served seven years on the board. (International Soundphoto) Adult Classes Are Slated for January Registration for upholstery and drapery classes, which will meet next month, will be held at Med ford High school Wednesday. Thursday and Friday this week, Lindsay Vinsel, director of adult education, announced today. Registration may be made by telephoning Vinsel at 3-5341. The upholstery classes will consist of covering and fabricat ing small projects. Classes will meet daily in room 341 at Hed rick Junior High school between 8:30 a.m. and 12 noon and be tween 1 and 4:30 p.m. Tuition fee is S7.87. The first class will be between Jan. 7 and Jan. 11, ! and the second will be from Jan. 14 through Jan. 18. The drapery class will meet each evening between 7 and 10 p.m. starting an. 7 and con tinuing through Jan. 18. Vinsel said. It will be held in room 15 of Medford High school, and tuition fee is S6. Mrs. May Frye from the Eu gene Vocational school will be instructor for both classes. Those interested in register ing have been asked not to pur chase material until after the first class session. Vinsel said more classes will be provided at a later date, and suggestions of interest areas would be welcome, Vinsel said. The group left T h u rsday at noon by car and arrived late that same night in time for regi stratum. Pat Medlty j i Herrick Hall, the girls dorm itory. The boys and the speech coach stayed in private home. Students who attended and events in which they were en tered were, debate teams, Lary Smith and Sally Elden, and Ben Hathaway and Pat Medley; ortory, Lary Smith, Sally Elden, and Judy Van Horn; extempor aneous speaking, Sara Turner and Lary Smith. Sara Turner was in humorous interpretive reading. Serious interpretive reading entrants were Ben Hath away, Judy Van Horn, and Pat Medley. Lary Smith finished oratory in fourth place, just miss ing a third place win. playing the trumpet solo, "Parade of the Icicles," "A Trib ute to Glenn Miller" and the currently popular "Canadian Sunset." The varsity choir pro gram included "Oh Sacred Head," "The Glory Train," "A Balm in Gilead" with Sylvia Yell doing the soprano solo. Kay Johnson directed the choir in a spiritual "Rock O' My Soul" and the last number was "The Lord Bless You and Keep You." Body of Agness Man Found at Mouth of Rogue Gold Beach 'U.R1 The body of a missing man who had been sought after disappearing from his home at Agnes last April was believed to have washed up on the beach near the mouth of Rogue river here Sunday. Officers said the body discov ered on the beach had apparent ly been in the water eight or nine months. Tentative identific ation listed the body as that of Mose Frye. Officers Elected For Medical Society Dr. Clarence Drummond was elected president of the Jackson County Medical society at a re cent meeting at the Rogue Val ley Country club. Dr. Oscar Heyerman was nam ed president elect, Dr. Earl Law son, secretary, and Dr. Ralph Thompson, treasurer. Dr. Florian J. Shasky was chosen delegate to the Oregon State Medical so ciety. A symposium on back pain sponsored by the extramural post-graduate lecture series of the Oregon State Medical society highlighted the afternoon and evening meeting. Visiting lecturers includes Dr. Kenneth E. Livingston, neuro surgeon, Portland; Dr. Donald B. Slocum, orthopedist, Eugene; and Dr. Arthur C. Jones, phsy- ciatrist, Portland. Among other visiting physici ans were Dr. W. F. Future Homemakers and their "brother" organization, Future Farmers of America join ed forces and resources and the end result was a gaily decorated school building. Each classroom door window now sports a gay Christmas wreath. Prulh McFarlin, Negro singer, entertained Crater High school students last Thursday at a Na tional School Assembly. McFar lin presented a program o spirituals and several operatic selections. His accompanist, High Thompson, held the spotlight during a piano solo, 'vRhapsody in Blue." These assemblies, at which student attendance is op tional, never fail to provide superb entertainment. The annual winter concert was held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. The girls glee club sang "What Child is This?," "God Painted a Picture," "On This Christmas Morn" and "Amid the Silence." Student conductor, Richard Evans led the band in their first number, an overture entitled "Kin."
