Marketable timber from pub lic as well as private land has been thinned out in accessible areas and good sawlogs are hard to come by. It is believed that the average observer, not familiar with den sely timbered country, can scarcely tell the difference be tween a logged-off section and one which has never had an axe in it as far as general appear ance is concerned. Only choice trees are cut for market. These are scattered throughout the forest and when felled are hardly missed in the overall picture. There are so many trees in western Oregon it is difficult to find room to build a house and garden in most sections, without cutting a few down. This will always be so in the Pacific northwest country. Cut-over land is available in this particular area for almost any kind of ranch or country Jacksonville Yule Programs Planned Jacksonville Students of Jacksonville primary, elemen tary and high schools will par ticipate in two Christmas pro grams Thursday, Dec. 20, and scheduled at each program are a Santa Claus visit and distri bution of gifts.
