Because of the difficulty of keeping the files of the Christ mas seal campaign absolutely correct, each year there are a few people, who do not receive Christmas seals here in Jackson county, it was said. Many of these persons wish to buy Christ mas seals to further the work of tuberculosis control and preven tion and they may do so by con tacting the health department and leaving their names, with their request for Christmas seals. Requests will be forwarded and such persons will receive their seals in a short time. For this service, call the Jackson County Public Health depart ment at 2-7159. Sloan, says the institute Two Students Play In AAUW Program Two former Medford High school students are among a group of Willamette university musicians who gave a program of Christmas music in Salem Sunday. The program was the annual musicale of the Salem branch, American Association of University Women. Playing were Bill Shannon, a senior at Willamette university and a son of Mr.and Mrs. W. L. Shannon, Route 1, Box 60, Jack sonville, and Jerry Johnson, for merly of Medford and now of Salem. The two played with a group of brass instrumentalists who presented medieval music for the English drama, "The Second Shepherd's Play." Young Shannon's instrument is the tuba. Wednesday Club Hears Review of Christmas Story Mrs. M. F. Heilman reviewed a story in the last Reader's Digest book, "Merry Christmas, Mr. Baxter," by Edward Streeter, at the last meeting of Wednesday Study club. The author tells of the firm determination of a husband to budget Christmas spending, or most certainly to discontinue some names on the Christmas card list, but who ends up by sending more cards than former ly. Mr. Baxter also found it re quires real courage to shop for lingerie, explaining to a cynical saleswoman, it was for his wife, and in the French toiletries, a helpful young woman clerk, ooz ing skepticism, suggested "Sin." as one of the new exotic per fumes. Mrs. L. V. Watkins presented three articles from the World Almanac, "T h e Reconstructed White House," in Washington, D. C, "Arlington National Cem etery," and "Tomb of the Un known Soldier." Butte Falls Club Names Officers Butte Falls Officers of Butte Falls Mt. Pitt club are Mrs. W. L. Harris, re-elected president; Mrs. F. E. Poole, vice-president; Mrs. R. L. Jolliffe, secretary and Mrs. Henry Tygart, re-elected treas urer. The club sponsored a number of activities last month. A cos tume party was held early in the month, with Mrs. Jolliffee and W. L. Harris winning prizes for the best costume. The prizes were donated by Mann's store, Medford. Other prize winners were Mrs. Virgil Conley, Ted Ridall, Mrs. Bruce Burton and Mr. Tygart. Members of the club served refreshments for a shoot of the Butte Falls Gun club. Another event was a Thanksgiving dinner for members of the club and their families. Guests Here Mr. and Mrs. George H. Applegate PTA Makes Plans For Christmas Play Applegate The annual Christ mas play sponsored by Apple gate Parent-Teacher association will be presented at a meeting of the group to be held in the school gymnasium at 8 p.m. Fri day. December 14. Everyone at tending is to bring a gift suit able for a patient at the Eastern Oregon Mental hospital. The name of the play is "Home for Christmas" and 1 directed by Mrs. Dora Krouse and Mrs. Dorna Miller. The cast is com posed of the following members: Mrs. Valerie Winningham, Mrs. Rosie Gibson, Ed Goodwin. Bill Bird, Iva Hoffman, Mrs. Miller. Mrs. Mary Sue Freemantle, and Mrs. LaVerne Guches. A new method of presenta tion will be tried. The commit tee hopes that everyone will bring gifts for the hospital in order to send a large number. The gifts help to bring cheer to those unable to be home with their families. DAV, Auxiliary Announce Party Jackson county chapter, Dis abled American Veterans, and the auxiliary will hold the an nual Christmas party Friday, December 14. at 8 p.m. at the American Legion hall. 513 South Riverside avenue.
