Joseph Crick, Grants Pass, will speak for a meeting of Medford chapter, Oregon United Nations ' association, to be held Thursday. December 13, at 8 p.m. at St. Mark's parish house. Election of officers will be held according to Lawrence Solin, chapter president. 'Mrs. Crick will speak concern ing United States Foreign pol icy and" world leadership Mrs. Crick and her husband have traveled extensively in recent ears. and have been able to observe conditions abroad at first hand. Last summer they visited in Copenhagen, Germany, Aus tria. Switzerland and other European nations. In Geneva they spent some time in the office of the European UN headquarters and lunched with the UN high commission for refugees. They interviewed many persons., including UN workers and officials and work ers with the YMCA and YWCA throughout Europe. Mrs. Crick is a former presi dent of the Grants Pass Council of Church Women, has long worked with the American Friends Service committee and has been a ci.vic leader in many fields. Members of- the- chapter are ashed to take bedding and cloth ing to the meeting for the Hun garian relief drive now under way throughout the nation. Select from sport rust or black in hi and mid heel. $27.95 Use Our Christmas Pioneer Spirit Said Necessary To Bring Peace "A pioneer spirit that will ex cel any pioneer spirit ever dem onstrated to date is needed to meet the new frontier which faces the world today; this new frontier is world peace through the brotherhood of man," said Mrs. Wayne Stauffer in her key note address to the workshop on world understanding held Wednesday, December 5, in the First Methodist church. Mrs. Stauffer, Eugene, is the Oregon conference secretary of Christian social relations of the Woman's Society of Christian Ser-ice. She attended the orig inal session in Kansas City. Mo., in the fall of 1955, when plans were made to itinerate an inter national team of Christian wo men throughout the United States for one year. Mrs. Stauffer also said, "We in America have a large part in this venture toward world peace because we have wealth, leader ship, freedom and a high stand ard of living of which we are justly proud. But if we would keep our standards, it is impera tive that we share our goods with the world." Mrs. C. R. Adamson, Mediord, Eugene district secretary of the Wesleyan Service guild, explain ed to the delegates the purnose of having this workshop which had as its theme "Every citizen is responsible for world peace." She stressed the need for the understanding, by each individ ual, of needs and culture of the various races in the world today. Royal Arch Masons, and deputy master of Table Rock councii, Royal and Select Masons, an nounces that the annual installa tion of officers in both bodies will be held Tuesdav, December 11. A covered dish dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. under the supervision of the Royal Arch Widows. A short business meet ing of the council for the elec tion of officers will be held at 7:30 p.m. and the installation will follow. Gerald A. Cottingham is to be insalled as high priest by Glenn Smith, grand orator of the grand council of Oregon, in stalling officer: M. E. Borough, master of the sixth arch of the grand council, installing mar shal; Vernon Turpin, past grand high priest and grand conductor of the grand council, installing chaplain. John Pond, district inspector of District No. 9 of the grand commandery of Oregon, will act as installing marshal for the council officers with the other installing officers the same. The installation will be open to all Masons, their wives and guests. A Clrristmas party will be held by the Medford Business and Professional Womens' club at Roxy Anne Grange hall, corner of Spring and Valley View drive. Thursday, December 13 at 7:30 o'clock. Because the regular De cember, meeting time fell on Thursday, December 20, too close to Christmas, the date w as changed to the second Thursday, one week ahead of schedule. Two committees, safety and health and arts and music, have combined their forces to furnish a program and refreshments which promise a party with both old and new Christmas flavor. A gift exchange between mem bers,holiday games and Christ mas carols are planned. The music and arts committee, head ed by Mrs. Beulah Nathan, and assisted by Mrs. Iva Murray. Mrs. Betty Hamilton and Mrs. Muriel Burns, will provide a special treat. A program of songs by the boys' choral group from St. Mary's academy. Mrs. Beulah Osborne and Miss Grace Stuhr, co-chairman of the safety and health committee, plan to highlight some of the hazards of the holiday season which in the past have often turned a joyous Christmas into tragedy.
