NO LIMIT.-' ' Plans for Increasing Facilities at State0 Fair Are Discussed c o A committee of Jackson coun ty residents interested in improv ing facilities at the Oregon State Fair 4-H and Future Farmers of America members met at Crater High school recently to discuss plans proposed by the state-wide committee organized arlier this fall. - It was pointed out that both the youth programs have out grown facilities availab!e"in the dormitory 'and non-livestok ex hibit areas. . c" - Machinery exhibits were stack ed on top of each other or icft at home because of lack of space and boys were sleeping on the ground for lack of other suitable sleeping facilities, the committee noted. The combined 4-H aoa FFA programs have increased more than !0 times the former exhibit volume and increase eaclt year. . o o Plans have' been drawn, for the construction of a new dom itory, cafeteria, auditorium end exhibit building for use, by 4-H-ers and FFA. members. The facilities have been so. designed so that they may be used year around by not only 4-Hfcd FFA groups but by farm organiza tions and other gmips meeting inothe Willamette Valley which would ha need for such facil ities. The young mother, in an ex ample cited by the committee, does not feel secure in her own ability to do what should be done for the family "sinee the father has gone, yet she does not want to take work because she feels her children need her. . She was unhappy just caring for the children at home with out a chance to .get out. She had been an unhappy self in classesoor the fw groups to whih sh belonged. Yet, she did not wanjt to discussher feel ings withcficr minister, ancf dur ing schoo conferences about her children she tended to "lean on" thea teacher for advice. The teaches did not feelo equipped, nor0had they the time to assfit in the mother's problem. The Mental Wealth committee Is conducting a suryey through which it hopes to determine how many such cases there are in. Jackson county. The committee also hopesto learn how to help such situations, whether plan ning to work, and if so what arrangements can be made with the children, and to resolve her inferior feelings about meeting child and teenager, self con- and socializing with people.
