November 27. 1956 Decking of Gift in Wrapping Half the Fun of Christmas Time One of the prettiest, and most exciting lights of Christmas is the helter-skelter mound of beautifully wrapped gifts piled Wider te Christmas tree! There is the promise of happy sur prises in store . . . there is the thoughtfulwss that went into the selection of each gift . . . and there is the Jove and imagi nation that went into each gala wrapping. Decking each gift in a joyous wrapping is half the fun of gift giving! But just as important as as doing your gift shopping early is allowing plenty of time for 8 your gift wrapping. The fun is spoiled if this part 0of Christmas is allowed to be come a hurried, lait-minutt chore. EacTi yer there are mofe and emore n'tvel ideas incorporated into gift wrapping. This is due partly to the greater selection of gift wrappinz available in the stores and also to the imag inative use of simple and in expensive materials found around the house. The ingenuity that is evident in any display of Christmas gifts goes beyond the use of novel wrappings. More and more clever cut-outs and trims are being added to gift packages. It is wise to adapt these peck age motifs to the gift itself. Children are doubly thrilled when their gift box boasts a perky Santa, a red Christmas stocking or a tree. These can be made from red or green con struction paper with painted or crayon trim or can be cut-outs 'from last year's cards. A very dainty gift for a wom an is even lovelier when the gift wrapping is glamorized with a trim of gold lace doilies, glued on sequins or a sweet little an gel cut-out. A man will get an extra lift of spirits when his package is per sonalized with a clever motif that ties in "with his hobby. For example: if he's a gardening enthusiast, tie his package with raffia that can be used later for tying plants and use gay packets of seeds for decoration. Start early to collect the ma terials you'll need to add novel touches to your gift packages. Let your imagination have full sway and you'll find a clever idea to highlight each gift wrap ping. For pretty Christmas gift packages, just as important as the handsome or jolly decora tion is to start with an attractive package. Here are a few simple rules that can make anyone an expert gift wrapper: First: always use a box to be sure of having a neat package. Second: Place box on the gift paper and cut paper, allowing just enough margin at each end for folding. Third: Center box on paper and make a neat overlay. Tape. Fourth: Fold edges of paper in at the corners, bring under edge up over top edge and tape. It's also easy to master the are of making pretty ribbon bows. A flat bow is made from a length of ribbon looped back and under in graduated sizes and tied in the center.
