Francis-Melton Rites are Held In Klamath Falls Klamath Falls Miss Deloris Joan Melton, daughter of Mr and Mrs. H. C. Melton, Klamath Falls, and granddaughter of Jack Tungate, Butte Falls pio neer, became the bride of Rich ara w. jrancis in a ceremony October 11 in Klamath Falls. Close friends and relatives of the couple attended the 10:30 o'clock morning ceremony in the Congregational church with the Rev. M. K. McKinnie officiating at the double ring service. . The bridegroom is the son of Mr.s. Rose Austin, Niagara, N.Y The bride wore a white satin dress fashioned with long bodice and pleated nylon net back pan el which dropped from a satin bow at the waistline. Her veil was trimmed with lace applique and she carried a bouquet of white carnations encircling a passion flower on a white Bible. The church was decorated with lavender and white chrys anthemums. Mrs. Arthur Dem son played the traditional organ wedding music. For her daughter's wedding Mrs. Melton wore a lavender taffeta dress with purple chrys anthemum corsage and black and lavender accessories. The bride is a graduate of Milwaukie Union High school and was making her home in San Diego. The bridegroom is a photographer's mate in the United States Navy and is sta tioned in San Diego. Follpwing a reception at the home of the bride's parents the newlywed couple returned to San. Diego where they will make their home. Out of town guests at the wed ding included Mr. and Mrs. Athel Dudley, Shady Cove: Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hammer, Pros pect; L. E. Tungate, Medford. Buzz Session Set By Howard PTA Howard Parent-Teacher asso ciation plans to resume the buzz sessions started earlier this month. Another is set for Tues day, November 20, at 7:30 p.m. for parents of children in the sixth grade. Parents are asked to attend in order to meet the teacher and to acquaint themselves with the school's activities. Parents are to meet in their child's room. The ceremony was solemnized at 8 o'clock in the evening by the Rev. Leonard Hannon of Ashland, brother-in-law of the bride. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Massey of Ashland. Mr. Niedermeyer is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl F. Nied ermeyer. Central Point-Jacksonville highway, Medford. Baskets of yellow and laven- Dinner Dance Given by Club; Party Planned Autumn leaves, corn stalks and gaily colored nuts decorated the Ashland Elks club for the Medford Sojourner's di n n e r dance November 10. More than 100 members and their guests enjoyed dinner and dancing to the music of the Barney Beaton Trio. Prizes donated by Mann's De partment store and Burelson's store were won by Mrs. Edwin Harper and Mrs. Eugene Ingram. Card prizes were won by Mrs. O. W. Larson and Mrs. Alma F. Hill. The club met November 15 at the Pythian hall. The room and refreshments table were decorat ed with bouquets of chrysan themums and marigolds. Re freshments were served by the hostesses, Mrs. Herman Schrod er and Mrs. Nell Brown. Two new members, Mrs. Frank Cook and Mrs. Frank McCully, were welcomed into the club. During the business meeting plans were completed for the Christmas party to be held on December 13 at the Pythian hall. Each member who attends is to bring a gift valued between 50 cents and $1. to be exchanged during the meeting. Prizes for bridge were won by Mrs. Clay M. Lee, Mrs. Roy Custance and Mrs. A. J. Cas tillo; pinochle prizes were won by Mrs. Sam Jones and Mrs. E. E. Larsen, and canasta prizes by Mrs. Clarence Staley and Mrs. Frank Stratton. Newcomers to Medford and vicinity who have lived here less than two years are cordially invited to attend the meetings of the club and become members. PTA Announces Workshop Here Mrs. Clyde Gideon, Portland, legislation chairman for the Ore gon Congress of Parents and Teachers, will conduct a work shop meeting for parent-teacher members, school administrators, legislators, school board mem bers, and all interested persons from Jackson and Josephine counties, in Hedrick Junior High school cafetorium, November 27 at 8 p.m. The discussion will be con cerned with the legislative pol icies and program of the National Congress of Parents and Teach ers and the Oregon Congress. Primary attention of the legis lative program is school legis lation, but also of great import ance are the legislative program items, it is said. These are juve nile protection, child welfare, safety, driver training in the high school, and many other sub jects related to improving our communities for youth. Valley Navy Mothers To Meet on Tuesday; Card Party Planned Rogue Valley Navy Mothers will meet Tuesday, November 20, at 10 a.m. for an all day sesssion in the courthouse auditorium. A covered dish dinner will be served at noon and members are reminded to take their own table service. They should also take their sewing materials. A business session will be held in the afternoon. The club will hold a card party Wednesday, November 21, at 8 p.m. in the theater room at Camp White. The public is in vited and those planning to at tend are asked to take homemade pies. Her veil was fingertip length and she carried a lavender orchid and white stephanotis on a white Bible. Mrs. Willis Miller of Roseburg was matron of honor for her aunt. She wore a ballerina length dress in dark lavender color. Other attendants were Miss Doris Hickson of Eagle Point and Mrs. Dorman York of Mon tague, Calif. They wore dresses in pale lavender color of balle rina length. Their headpieces and bouquets were of pale lav ender chrysanthemums. Candlelighters were Miss Mar ilyn Hays and Miss Carlene Con rad, nieces of the bride from Roseburg. Their dresses were of pale green also in ballerina length. Linda and Carrie Miller, grandnieces of the bride from Roseburg, were flower girls. They wore floor length pale yel low satin dresses and carried lavender baskets of yellow chrysanthemum petals. Best man was Jack Nelson, brother-in-law of the bridegroom from Winston, Ore. Fredrick Starboard and Richard Nieder meyer, . cousin of the bride groom, were ushers. For her daughter's wedding, Mrs. Massey wore a grey dress with matching accessories. Her corsaqe was of white carnations. Following the ceremony a re ception was held in the church annex. Mrs. Craig Hays, sister of the bride from Roseburg, cut and served the wedding cake as sisted by Miss Vera Gish. Miss Louise Kinchoeloe and Mrs. Irene Wheeler poured the punch. Mrs. Mary Foster assisted with the reception arrangements. Mrs. Loyal Massey, sister-in-law of the bride, was in charge of the guest book and Miss Faith Diedrick was at the gift table. For her traveling attire the bride wore a navy tweed suit with matching accessories and the orchid was from her bridal bouquet. Following a wedding trip the couple will make their home in Medford. The bride is employed at Woolworth's company and the bridegroom is in business with his father.
