Car'lina a lot with many boys of differ ent faiths, and for a w-hile I was worried that she would marry one of them. But along came these two good-looking boys of our own faith and begged her to marry them. She went with each of them for a -while and then just turned them down. I think Noreen was influenced by two of her girl friends, who were jealous of her. Our parents died whr?n Noreen was very young and I have taken full care of her since she was 13. I sure would Jike to see her married to a nice boy of our faith. "oreen T. My siteter ought to think about her own life for a change instead of worrying about mine. She is 28 and I don't see her going around looking for men of our faith to marry. Margaret worries about me much too much. All Margaret thinks about when she sees a young man is whether he belongs to the right faith. I want to marry in my faith, but I think cCher things count too. My friends are very nice and are not jealous of me. but they happened to know these two young men very well. One of them drinks too much, the other is a very unsettled type who goes from job to job. Margaret doesn't know any thing about the realities of life. She just goes to work and comes home and worries about me. I feel that I am young and can look around some more. Th Couneil: If Margaret would heed her younger sister's advice and pay a little more at tention to her own social life. she would have much more chance of influencing the girl. Margaret appears weighed down by her responsibility to her sister, who talks like a fair-: ly sensible girl. It is possible that Noreen was wrongly influ enced by her friends, but she time the older girl thought about her own life. She misht go even fuTthcr and sucgest specific so cial activities that would give Margaret more contact with people. If Noreen is really as sensible as she appears, she will in the future lake her girl friends' ad vice with a grain' of salt. . (Copyright 1956. General Features Corp.) Hodge back into prominence today. The developments occurred from an investigation by Albert E. Jenner Jr., a special assistant attorney general, Snto the fi nances of Hodge. Springfield. Chicago. St. Louis and Washington figured in the new angles which arose from Hodge's fantastic raid on the state treasury thnough false state warrants. ' Jenner sought to trace a S35.000 fee paid by the Union Electric Co., St. Louis, in con- i nection with a biH which it ! wanted to pass the 1955 Illinois legislature. Jenner said J. Roy Browning, ) Chicago lawyer, said the utility ; agreed to pay Hodge and Brown ing the money to lobby for the bill, which was approved by the Legislature. Browning, however, said he i received only one check, for S17.500 which he endorsed over to Hodge. Jenner said. Meanwhile, the Securities-Exchange commission began a se cret investigation at Washington into the alleged payments of the utility. The commission sought to de termine whether thare was any violation of federal raw govern ing public utility holding com panies, and particularly whether there were any payments con trary to the ban on contributions to political parties or to candi dates for public office. The SEC investigation was re quested by U.S. Attorney John B. Stoddard Jr., Springfield. At St. Louis, officials of the utility said the S35.O00 fee was intended for Browning and that Hodge was only an intermediary in the hiring of the Chicago attorney.
