Norember 8. 1958 Gir Scouts Badg Wrk Members pi Troop IS, seventh grade at Griffin Creek school, are working for their first clays badge?, let jpy Mrs. Edgar Moir and Mrs. Arvid ' Althens. The troop meets at the Althens home. At the present time the troop is working on Citizens Here and Abroad proficiency badges, and has been learning how citizen? of other countries work, live and play. The girls have been espe cially interested in France, so each member learned something pecuic aooui mai coumry ana rep'rtc4 the information to the troop. One member learned a French song, another brought I several French recipes, someone described the perfume industry ! At one of the meetings of the troop the girls made and served crepe suzettcs at the refresh ments. Other activities incliided hear ing Mrs. George Rode speak on tJnited Nations Children's Re lief funi; and going to visit Mar cel LcPiniec, who talked about tilj boyhood in' France and the nistoms of his hometown, Le Havre. Mr. LePmiec owns the Garden Center nursery. Each girl in the troop is dressing a story book doll in the costumes of other countries: the dolls will be j featured in their Girl Scout win-' dow in March. ' On Octobet 26. the troop held a Halloween party at the Moir home; the party was planned and carried out by Mnrgie Moir and Nancy Kime. Each girl invited guests to attend the party. For ths next few weks the girls will be busy preparing their float for tfce annual Medford Christmas Parade: the troop won first priie last year wtth their float. . s Members of the troop are Sail- j dra Althens. president, Diane Evernhnm. It is designed to measure more accurately their vocational capabilities. - The teat was developed by Dr. S. B. Watson, who got his doc torate in psychology recently at the Illinois Institute of Tech nology, and Or. Harriett Shur rager, assitant professor of psychology. To achieve an eccurate intelli fence score for the blind, they combined the verbal phase of the standard IQ test with the performance- test which seeks to maciif- manual ttovtpritv and perceptual- ability without, the I usual cues. Watson said the standard IQ test alone doe rot adequately test a blind personV capabilities because it has been found that some people who score .high il the verbal phase score low in the performance . scale, " and 'vice versa. The standard IQ test also in cludes a performance test, but it requires sijht..
