When buying a box of candy, in Brussels, you select the candy piece by? piece from a hundred r more varieties. It is then put in a box of your selec tion. The salesgirl and the buyer frequently discuss the candy tiorO'is familiar with similar, piece by piece.., Incidentally, a O young fellow who makes a clev ef-r selection of candy and box' when presenting tame to a girl, jets off to a very good start. A Canadian dollar will get you more . . . a dinner in a top grade restaurant will cost you about S4, including service charge and tip. With wine more. How much depends cn your taste. Half bottle of Chablis costs SI. 85 Asides The apprentice system is gen erally practiced here. My girl friend said that at a beauty shop she visited there were a lot of young lads acting as apprentice hair dressers . . . gasoline is expensive. Many of the Brus sels taxicabs use diesel oil as a substitute. Horses and Women To complete my horses and women research in Belgium I visited the Boitsford race course. A curious track. Only time you see the horses is when they are in the stretch. Rest of the track is in a forest. First" time you see . the horses is when they come out of the woods and into the 'stretch. Another curious angle is that at the Stockel race course the horses run counter clockwise as in the United States. At Boitsford tbey run clockwise as in Erance. These courses are close together. Would be the same as if the horses ran one way at Jamaica' and anoth er at Aqueduct. Very confusing. It is estimated that more than 35 per cent of all Americans either work on farms, in indus tries which process farm pro ducts or furnishing of goods and services to farmers.
