Talent, Phoenix, Jacksonville, Crater, and Eagle Point high school bands will participate in a parade through downtown Ashland Saturday at 10:30 a.m. v.hicl will culminate in a rally at the plaza Leading the parade wil be a Color guard from the Medford Recruiting center followed by Homecoming Princess and her ccurt, and bands, floats, and special noise parade entries. Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. Coach Al ,Akins' Red Raiders will meet Eastern Oregon's Mountaineers. Halftime ceremonies will fea ture a reshowing of the best parade floats, an Indian dance by the members of Orchesis. women's dance group, and Crater High school's band. From 4:30 to 6:00 p.m., open house will be held at both dorm itories, followed by the Alumni banquet, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the downstairs lounge at the Ash land Elk's club. "V In contrast- k.' I v-rav nirturpc o f President E i s enhower's insides have shown in the public prints like leg art. Mr. Eisenhower not only lives in a goldfish bowl. He. almost, is a goldfish bowl. His pulse, heart beat and other physical intimacies will get another page one ride this week end after a head-to-toe ex amination scheduled to take place here at the Army's Walter Reed Medical Center. The examination is intended to squelch what is left of the health issue in this campaign, which isn't much. The let-of-center elements of American politics spotted what looked like a chewey campaign issue in the twin facts of Mr. Eisenhower's 1955 heart attack and the re-' nomination of Vice President Richard M. Nixon.. All Hands Not Convinced The nub of the argument was that Republican success in this election would put Nixon a mere heartbeat from the White House. How effective that argu ment may have been with vot ers wil be shown on election day, Nov. 6. The publicity given Mr. Ei senhower's clinical experiences since he was stricken in Denver in September, 1955, has not con vinced all hands that all the facts are known to the public. There have been repeated pub lic suggestions that the physi cians and surgeons who min istered to the President should be submitted for questioning by Washington reporters. Mighty near all is fair in poli tics as in some other danger ous games, wherefore it is rea sonable to believe that there will be skeptics after the re port on the President's pre-election physical examination. Three of the examining med icos will be Army officers. More over, the examination will take place in an Army hospital where information can be chan nelled or checked almost at will. A -question Mkely to be raised is this: Hagerty Skilled Who would expect Army phy sicians or surgeons to be eager cr, even, willing to report be fore election day that their com-r.iander-in-chief was other than the vigorous man he seems to be. James C. Hagerty is the White House public relations expert. He cannot match the late Sen. Arthur Capper (R-Kan.) of whom it was said that he could keep both ears to the ground simultaneously. But Hagerty is skilled in the noble art of trou ble spotting. He can see trouble coming around corners. So Hagerty may checkmate the skeptics this time by ar ranging for .the kind of medical news conference which has oft en been suggested. There is pre cedent for suspicion that the health of a president is some thing his associates do not care to discuss frankly. Grass-roots reports indicate performance so far Is convinc ing the votes that he is physical ly able to take on another four year term. The significance of bis Walter Reed check-up this week is that it may establish a precedent for future candidates. The voters may come to feel that candidates owe them an that Mr. Eisenhower's campaign election-eve health accounting. RIGHT til President Schedules Three Campaign Trips Washington (U.PJ Presi dent Eisenhower will make three one-day campaign trips next week with speeches in six cities j in five states. The White House said today five of the speeches will be made a, airports in Miami and Jack sonville, Fla., and Richmond, Va., on Monday, and in Dallas, Tex., and Oklahoma City on Wednesday. The sixth address, it said, will be a nationwide radio and tele vision speech from Convention Hall, Philadelphia, Thursday night. . WELL EQUIPPED Washington U.P.)
