Woman Mayor, City Council in Draw College Springs. Iowa OJ K A gun-toting woman mavor lought an all-male City Council to a draw Tuesday nigiit in her efforts to acquire a salary for nr appointed female town mar anal. Both lidei stuck to their gum the mayor seeking money and tha council refusing to pay. In the end, the council was threatened with legal action by th mayor, Mrs. Roy Simpson, 41, and her marshal, Mrs. Harold Byrion, who said they might sue the city's governing body for back salary. He was making himself heard while the lady in question confined herself to being seen. Trial Photographed In Alabama Court Birmingham, Ala. (U.R) Proceedings of a trial were pho tographed Tuesday for the first time in the history of Jefferson County Circuit Court. Judge Robert J. Wheeler al lowed the pictures in the trial of George Sanders, former taxi driver, convicted of beating to death Clarence Mason in a su burban jail May 16. The proceedings were photo graphed in available light, with out flash bulbs, and apparently caused no distraction in the court. NAACP Plans To Fight Texas Injunction Tyler, Tex. (U.R) The Na tional Association for tha Ad vancement of Colored People planned today to fight an in junction which outlaws all its activities in Texas. The injunction was granted late Tuesday by District Judge Otis Dunagan. The action came after a month-long hearing in which an estimated 1,225,000 words went into the record. Attorney General John Ben Shepperd sought the injunction on behalf of the state. He con tended the NAACP violated Texas laws by soliciting anti segregation lawsuits, taking part in politics and being a profit making organization without registering as such. (U.R) A University of Tennessee agricul ture engineer says farmers can greatly reduce loss of fuel through evaporation by proper ly shading their gasoline storage tanks. Loss of evaporation through the vent of the tanks can run as high as 10 per cent in a month's time when tanks are exposed to a hot sun Houston Luttrell said. Overheated gasoline and dif ferential evaporation also may change the fuel's character and result in poor tractor and truck operation by gumming up valves and rings. Shading the tanks, Luttrell pointed out, is much more ef fective than giving them a white reflective surface with paint. October 24. 19SS Relationship Between Agencies, Juvenile Court Are Discussed Relationship between the ju venile court and three United Medford Crusade agencies was topic of a panel discussion Mon day night at the regular meet ing of the advisory council to the Jackson county juvenile court. H. Dewey Wilson presided ov er the meeting and Mrs. Kay Crowell, juvenile officer, was panel moderator. Panel mem bers were Allen Hatch, Boys and Girls Aid society; Mrs. Helen Wilson, American Red Cross; and Miss Mary Vandenberg and Dr. Harry Danielson, child guid ance clinic. Hatch described the legal basis for referring children to the Boys and Girls Aid society for adoption. He explained intri cate legal processes involved In permanently separating children from their parents. He also dis cussed the society's services to unmarried mothers. Coordinate Work Mrs. Wilson explained the manner in which the juvenile court and the Red Cross coord inate their work. She used as an example a young man overseas, whose wife and small children are in trouble. She said the Red Cross first attempts to get in touch with the husband before any court action is taken.
