He greeted the group with the remark that if they are the "eggheads" Republicans speak of, he never saw a prettier group of eggheads. Stevenson Working To Build Pictureof Ike As Weak President Kansas City, Mo. U.R) Adlai E. Stevenson worked today to build up a picture of President Eisenhower as a weak president with a limited concept of his duties. The Democratic presidential nominee plugged away at that theme Wednesday night at a rally at which he was introduced by his former foe, former Presi dent Truman. Stevenson said that in calling for "a strong presidency, I am not talking about the President's health or any personal aspect of the situation in Washington." Sayt Not 'Attacking' Ik. "I am talking about the lim ited concept of the presidency that Mr. Eisenhower has an nounced publicly and followed in practice," he said. "And I am not 'attacking' the Presi dent, as the newspaper head lines so often say. "I am talking, rather, about what has seemed to me his philosophical attitude toward the office and his consistent re jection of the positive responsi bilities of leadership a rejec tion that began not last fall, but in January, 1953," he said. Stevenson planned to writ, speeches this morning, and then motor across the Kaw river to talk at the Wyandotte county court house in Kansas City, Kan. Afterward, his plane was sched uled to leave for St. Louis, Mo., where he speaks tonight, Cordial Meeting Stevenson and Mr. Truman met in an atmosphere of cordial ity Wednesday night, their first meeting since the Democratic convention, where Mr. Truman tried to block Stevenson's nom ination. The ex-president used only 50 words to introduce Stevenson. He said Stevenson had the quali fication, experience and ability to fill the office of president. When Stevenson's speech was completed, Mr. Trumarf told re porters it was "right down th alley" and "he ought to do that all the time if he does, he' going to win." Stevenson told the crowd of 2.500 in Municipal Auditorium it was no secret that he and Mr. Truman have sometimes dis agreed. I would say it was the Dolly sisters. In second spot I would put the Millership sisters and in third place, the Duncan sisters. Incidentally, did you ever see a Vaudeville act billed as the "Three Allen Sis ters?" I missed that act would liked to have seen it. Gracie Allen was one of those sisters.
