I don't know which of three suitors to marry. Mrs. M. G. She must strike while the iron is hot. Celie G. I guess mosl people would say I'm an awfully lucky girl, but I wonder. I'm so mixed up. I'm 22 years old, not very pretty, yet I've always had loads of boy friends and several have wanted to marry me. Now, there are three perfectly swell ones who are very s,erious about me, but I just can't make up my mind which I like the best. When I'm with any one of them, I think he's the one, but then along comes the next one, and he seems to be the one. May be I'm not much of a romantic, but I feel that I could be "in love" with any one of them if I had a mind to be. It's just a question of choosing which one. My friends and my parents think I'm just not normal and the boys are beginning to think I'm just trying to amuse myself with them. That's not true. I really want to get married, but I can't make up my mind. I want my parents to tell me which one they would choose, but they re fuse to do this. Mrs. M. G. If Celia isn't ma ture enough to make her choice now, I don't know when she will be. We can't make her choice for her, although we know what we -think the choice ought to be. They are all fine young men, however, and whichever she chooses will be all right with her father and me. But she must choose and choose soon. As she says, she's no beauty and she's not going to improve with time. Does she expect always to have three men pursuing her? The time to strike is when the iron is hot. The Council: Mrs. M. G. is act ing very strangely in putting pressure on her daughter in a harmful ind refusing to ap ply any pressure where it might help. - She insists her daughter must hurry up and choose because she will soon lose her looks and can't expect to continue being so pop ular. This is not necessarily true, for this warmhearted girl may continue being popular for many years and her looks might even improve with time. But even if the mother were right in what she says, these black warnings are only calcu lated to upset Celia and prevent her from thinking clearly and being able to interpret her own feelings. Mrs. M. G. says she knows what her choice would be, but refuses to tell Celia. Why? Possi bly she is afraid of being respon sible if the marriage should not turn out to be all that she and Celia would want it to be. Or perhaps she is afraid that Celia would turn against the "chosen" young man in a sudden burst of independence. Whatever her reason for not telling, Mrs. M. G. ought to ex plain to her daughter, for the girl undoubtedly feels deserted and helpless at this crucial per iod of life. If the parents feel that they do not want to influence Celia too strongly,, they should try to define for themselves the qual ities they like in the favored young man and point these out as worthy qualities in a husband. Perhaps she'll take the hint or it may help her to clarify her own ideas. It is foolish to insist that the choice must be one of the three young men now pursuing Celia. She is still young enough to con sider the field open. If the par ents do not want to guide Celia, they should take off the heat and let her work out her own feelings and standards in peace. (Copyright 1956, General Features Corp.) DATE ANNOUNCED Pendleton U.R) Elbert J. Belts, manager of Cascade Gas Company, today announced an other tentative date, Sept. 13, for the "turn-on" of natural gas in the city of Pendleton. Belts cited leaks and major repairs on the city's system as the major cause for postponement. BEWARE IMITATIONS ftA LOOK FOR THE HAPPY UTTU DOG TOPS IN QUALITY! LOW IN PRICE
